The kiokote had learnt her lesson - setting off early to seek out the blessing. This was their third time expecting and she was less nervous than the first time - but still, there was a level of anxiety no matter how many times you'd been fortunate enough to have children. No one knew what the future held, what the children would be like. They could do all the right things as parents and still something could go wrong.

She shook the thoughts from her head and took a deep breath. 'Focus, she thought to herself. 'No point spiraling on what ifs.'

“CONGRATULATIONS!” The voice was sudden and booming, heralding the arrival of a very bright Kiokote that seemed to drop from the sky. “I HAVE ARRIVED TO BLESS YOU!”

He did a little bow and then waited for the applause.

Overgrowth jumped back with a start, taken back by the sudden appearance of the buck before her. "What a splendid entrance," she beamed brightly. "Thank you so much! You'd think the worries would get easier with clutch number three but I fear I could have a thousand and still feel nervous."

She went quiet for a moment, contemplating what it was she wanted. "I just wish for them to be healthy and happy. Everything else is up to them and the Motherfather."

He beamed at the praise, pleased he’d been sent to such an amenable doe.

“Oh don’t be nervous! I’ve had ten clutches so far and they all turned out fine!” Granted his part in the whole process was far less laboursome than the one actually giving birth. “It’s not that big a deal. Everyone does it all the time.”

After trivializing her fears with a big smile, Watch Me considered her request. “Healthy and happy, that’s very doable. But I’ll add some flair for you - don’t worry.” He winked and then lifted his head to the sky and declared,

“TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN, AHEM, THAT IS TO SAY, OUR DEAR MOTHERFATHER! MAY THESE CHILDREN BE BOTH HAPPY, HEALTHY AND EXQUISITELY TALENTED IN ALL THINGS,” his voice level dropped in a conspiratorial level, “and if there’s any Acha lineage, you know the drill.”
