[PRP] Once Pleasant Dreams x Heart Eater

Pleasant had always been more somber of her siblings, at least so she thought. Veiled Tomb always seemed to have a more optimistic personality when the two of them were together, though she had come more out of her shell during the event in which the light escaped, was released? She still wasn't sure exactly what had happened with all of that. Today just seemed particularly dreary to her. Normally she found comfort in the rain, but today it made her feel... she didn't want to say depressed. She was more into her feelings today than any normal day. Something just felt amiss to her but she couldn't quite put a hoof on it. Taking a breath she looked up towards the sky and let the rain drop on her face, matting her hair to her neck. Regardless she was going to do what she usually did and she began to make her rounds, checking on some of the local wildlife that liked to nest low to the ground, and some of the blooming flowers that had just started to bud.

The rain was really more his sister's thing, but Heart Eater didn't mind it, not when it wasn't freezing cold and impossibly stormy. This, almost gentle spattering that it was, was more than tolerable, and he had to admit, he liked the way the swamp smelled when it rained.

He was outh foraging, eager to find enough to eat to last him the rest of the day and night, should the weather take a nastier turn. He was sure he'd have noticed the doe sooner if not for the masking sound of the rain, but she was quite close by the time she caught his eye.

He watched for a moment as she stood there, face up to the sky and very still. She hadn't seemed to notice him yet, and he didn't want to startle her. With a little thoughtful hum he cleared his throat, keeping to the edge of the clearing she'd stopped in.

Given his brighter appearance she was surprised she hadn't noticed him until he cleared his throat. Pausing mid step she looked towards the sound and looked a him with glowing eyes as she accessed the situation. He didn't seem threatening and she rarely came across another who would willingly cause another harm but she still held caution. "I do believe I let myself get 'caught in the moment'. Forgive me for not noticing you until now. I'm Once Pleasant Dreams." The smell of earth and rotting leaves was pungent in the air and it was a relaxing scent, one that gave her peace of mind, though she could never really explain it should someone ask.

The water in her hair seemed to enhance the curls as they matted to her neck and shoulders. "I was just making some rounds when I decided to take a moment for myself. If you don't mind company, would you want to walk with me while I check on some plants and animals?" She wasn't sure how long the other planned on spending time in the area and if they didn't mind company she didn't either, sometimes two sets of eyes was better than one.

"No apology needed," he assured her. "I didn't want to startle you." In hindsight he supposed he could have just passed through unnoticed. For as lost in thought as she'd appeared, it was debatable she'd have noticed him at all if he hadn't called attention to himself. Or maybe that was just the impression he'd gotten.

All the same, he gave a little dip of his head as she introduced herself. "Heart Eater," he offered, before a bit of rain trailing into his face had him shaking his head. Where she looked elegant, he looked a bit scruffy, short hair sticking up at odd angles or matted down completely in places.

The request caught him a little by surprise, but after a moment he nodded. "I wouldn't mind that." There wasn't anywhere in particular he needed to be.

Nodding slightly she listened as he spoke and smiled, I'm not sure you would have caused much of a scene. I do tend to get lost in my thoughts now and again. In truth, I should be thanking you for pulling me back into reality.

Watching him as the rain trailed down his face, she liked his disheveled appearance, his scruffy hair acting odd in the rain. Sometimes things that were in disarray were beautiful to her, his name was fascinating as well. Heart Eater, that's quite the name. Are you going to eat my heart? It was a joke, though she was unclear of her tone.

To be fair, my name speaks of nightmares, so I find it fascinating to have met someone with a name that isn't exactly bright and cheerful. Did that make sense? She wasn't sure but she put little thought into how others took her words.

Do you often find yourself walking in the rain? She motioned for him to follow her towards a grove not far from where they stood.

The reassurance brought a brief little smile to his face, there and gone again as he dipped his head. "Well, ah, your welcome?" It was shy, boarding on playful, but he wasn't so bold as that, not when they'd only just meet.

He dipped his head as she asked about his name, giving a soft chuckle. "No, your heart is safe from me." Despite the sound of his name, the buck was of a more gentle sort.

"I think I know what you mean. Most of my immediate siblings have, ah...less than bright names. Some embody them more than others. Storm can be quite stormy..."he frowned, realizing he was rambling a bit. "But, that's not important."

He hummed thoughtful as he considered her question about the reason. "Sometimes, I don't avoid the rain, so perhaps more than other kin. Do you?"

She smiled. She was thankful, sometimes her thoughts were not her own, they were reflections of the dreams she saw at night, though not always. Occasionally it was just nothing, vast emptiness, her eyes staring into the world, nothing reflected behind her gaze.

I'll consider myself fortunate. Listening as he spoke she continued to lead the way, the rain a light mist at this point, and smiled. Ah yes, I understand that easily enough. Family matters could always be interesting. They had arrived to the first location, at least the rain wasn't and hadn't been excessive. It meant some of the ground nests wouldn't be submerged, let alone the burrows. She wondered what animals that nested underground did when the rain got too much, did they flee their homes?

I don't think I've ever intentionally avoided the rain, so I would say I'm probably in it more than most. Mostly for her own enjoyment, but days, like today, it was about those much smaller than her. Moving some of the branches away she peeked into it's depths, a nest present, nice and dry, with a fledgling within it.

She gestured for him to look if he wished. This is one of the reasons I come out in the rain.

He kept pace with her easily, curious as to where she was headed and where this chance meeting would end up. It was too early to really to form any solid opinions on the doe, but his first impression was a positive enough one to want to learn more.

"I suppose for me it really depends on the season. Cold autumn rain can be pretty unpleasant, you know?" He didn't mind a refreshing summer shower when the days were long and hot. "It always sounds nice, though. Even if I'm not out in it."

He blinked as she approached some branches nosing them aside, then smiled as he saw the fledgling. "I'm glad they've managed to stay dry."
