[Solo] Just eating Melons (Grained Melon)

Post by Fasti »

The sun would set soon, it was the perfect time for Grained Melon to enjoy one of his favorite treats - watermelons.

He just loved the stuff. He had a deep, unshakable passion for the juicy, sweet fruit, and there was nothing like the first bite on a warm evening in the swamp. His chest, as white as the moonlight that now began to shine through the trees, puffed with pride as he trotted along the trail. The green of his belly and the underside of his tail stood out against the red and black of his fur, the opposite to the swamplands colors.

Beside him, waddling with little steps, was his companion, Quacking Melon, a bright, cheerful duck whose feathers were a blend of melon hues. Quacking Melon was never far from Grained Melon, often flapping and quacking merrily, a perfect balance to the buck's playful, cheeky nature.

"Hey, Quacking Melon, guess what I have got!" Grained Melon called out, his voice full of mischief, as he lifted up a plump watermelon he had found hidden near the edge of the swamp. Quacking Melon waddled over eagerly, the soft quack of excitement escaping his beak. He had been with the buck through thick and thin, through adventures and endless melon hunts and he was never one to pass up an opportunity to snack. "You have got one of those big, juicy watermelons, right?" Quacking Melon asked with a squeak. "You always know where the best ones are hidden!" Grained Melon grinned, flashing his bright eyes. "Of course! Only the best for my favorite duck," he said with a wink. The little duck flapped his wings in excitement, its eyes sparkling with joy. "You arent gonna eat it all yourself, are you?" the duck asked, his playful tone mimicking Grained Melons cheekiness. "Oh, of course not! I wouldnt dream of it," the buck teased, his voice light and carefree as he took a playful bow. "Why would I eat it all when I have got the best company right here?" Quacking Melon quacked in response, waddling closer. "Well I do help you find them, dont I? I’ll be the judge of how much you are sharing!" Grained Melon laughed. "Alright, alright! Lets see if we cant make this a proper feast," he said, carefully slicing the melon.

With the first slice, the sweet, fragrant aroma of the watermelon filled the air. The inside was just as nice as the outside, deep red with black seeds scattered throughout. Grained Melon offered the first piece to his companion. "Here you go, little duck. The first bite is always the best," he said, a glint of mischief in his eyes. Quacking Melon snatched the slice eagerly, his wings flapping in sheer delight. "You know me too well!" it quacked joyfully.

They sat together by the edge of the water, enjoying the fruit. Grained Melon leaned back and looked out over the swamp. "You know," the buck said, staring into the water, "I think this is the best part of the day. Just me, you, and a good watermelon." Quacking Melon waddled beside him, leaning in for another slice. "Thats cute! I couldnt agree more. Its always better with you around." The buck chuckled and nudged his friend. "I think you are just here for the watermelon. Dont think I dont see through your quacks!" "Maybe a little," the duck said, his beak curving into a grin. "But Im also here for the company."

Grained Melon blushed a little and quickly looked away from the little duck. It definitely didnt see that, he thought. But what he didnt see was the ducks knowing grin.
