DAZZLING DREAM
Image

Color blooms sideways,
glitter spilling from clouds.
Laughter leaves spirals
where rainbows spin 'round.

Nothing stays still.
Even the stars beam.
This isn’t a story -
it’s a dazzling dream.

DOWN BY THE RIVER
Image

Down by the river where the tall grass sways,
The fish jump high in the morning haze,
Otters tumble in slippery rows -
Splashing and twirling wherever they go.

The snow has melted, the ice is gone,
Sunlight dapples the rocks at dawn.
Petals unfurl in blushing surprise,
As crocuses blink at the clear blue skies.

Frogs croon softly from mossy nooks,
Their throats like bubbles in quiet brooks.
Bees hum soft through willow and fern,
Tasting the world as the seasons turn.

Down by the river, life stirs anew -
Buds start to open and saplings push through.
Spring stretches out with a yawn and grin,
And invites you gently to wander in.

TO SLEEP UPON THE GREEN
Image

As I sleep upon the green today,
Beneath the sky where branches sway,
Where breezes hum and grasses lean -
Let all be still, and soft, and clean.

No stone, no mark, no path to trace,
Just clovered fields and open space,
My steps, my breath, my fleeting years -
Let all I was fall loose like seeds.

The roots will curl around my frame,
And stir my bones with life again,
They’ll weave me through the loam and dew,
And make of me the world anew.

And if a robin dares to sing
Above my bones some distant spring,
Then let the notes rise high and slow -
A song I knew, but did not know.
