Purest Heart had really enjoyed her time at the winter market this year. She'd made many new friends, and met so many new and interesting kin and critters. She had so many exciting and fun experiences at the various booths. Her favorite had been the stone rolling booth. She had a lot of fun participating in rolling the stones each day. And she really liked the fact she got a prize whether she won or lost.
One day she'd participated in a carol singing contest and her song was picked as the favorite for the week. Her reward was a choice of a songbird. It was there she found Winter's Song. The pink, black and white songbird was so lovely and Heart was over the moon at the thought of having a pet. As she left the caroling booth, the songbird flew overhead, staying within range so she could see her. She'd made her way over to a booth that was giving out food and took her lunch to a secluded spot to eat. As she sat and ate, the songbird would flutter about, finding it's own seeds and bugs to eat. Once she finished eating, she lay down to enjoy the warmth of the winter sun peaking out from the clouds. The song she'd sang for the contest was still fresh on her mind, so she began to sing it to herself. The songbird heard her and joined in with birdsong. Together their voices carried, catching the ear of a dark, starry buck who was walking by. He stopped in his tracks and looked around for the source of the song, landing his eyes on the white doe and bird. He didn't want to interrupt, so he approached slowly, ducking behind a tree to listen. He stayed there until the doe ended her song, and the bird flitted off to find food again. The doe began to rise, and he knew he needed to act or she'd leave before he could say hello.
