[B] April Showers Bring...? [ Petal x ???? ]

Petal was excited. Most would be nervous or cautious or hesitant but she was over the moon. For the longest time, she had wanted to be a mother - to have a family of her own. Many had warned her that it may not happen after some time had passed but she did not let her belief waiver.

She told anyone who would listen - and even some who did not - the joyous news. She was going to be a mother! Little sprouts for her to tend to until they bloomed. Today she was taking a stroll, enjoying the sunshine that the change of the seasons brought. It was hard to miss the smile on her face or the cheeriness of her disposition.

[imgleft]https://matope.pixel-blueberry.com/imag ... ncert3.png[/imgleft] There was another kin enjoying the sun today, a stag, lounging in the thick grass that bordered Petal’s trail. Had he been waiting for her or was this just good luck? It was a mix of both.

The Killing Moon had made part of the journey and then chosen to rest instead, bored by the pursuit. Thankfully the MotherFather had chosen to make his life a little easier, and the handsome stag barely bothered to raise his head as he said,

“You seem happy.”

There was a hint of a smile on his face, a lightness to his gaze.

Petal didn’t even start when he spoke - a grin spreading across her face - the buck was just another for her to tell her great and wonderful news!! She gave a dip of her head before replying.

”Very happy. I am to be a mother.”

The words still made her heart flutter and she couldn’t believe it.

”I’ve wanted to be a mother for a long time.”

"How wonderful," he said, calmly lulled by the sun. "There is no greater joy."

Especially for this doe.

"What hopes do you have for them?"

Petal had thought of this for a long time - even before her wish had come true. She wanted many things for her children; that they would find peace and success in their lives; that they should never know the pain of loneliness or heartache; that no harm should befall them. But Petal knew that such things were out of her control and her children would eventually grow up and wish to leave her and explore and meet others that would influence them. To keep her children from that would be to go against everything she wished for them. Finally, she answered:

"I wish only for their health so that they may make their own choices in life, whatever they may be."

"That seems like a good wish," he said, pleased. "May the MotherFather bless them so." And it was as easy as that.

The Killing Moon didn't add anything on, no extra quirk. These children would be born to a loving mother and that was all they really needed.
