Odd. Very odd. It's not often Dreamcrusher felt eyes on her. Ever a night owl, she moved and had a tendency to fade into darkness. One red glow was a cause for concern, but two meant a pair of eyes and it was more unsettling that they or it watched on and did not engage. Sleep was a long time coming for the doe that night.
In this dream, Dreamcrusher visited a landscape of blackened skeleton trees, the remnants of a rampaging fire. she walked along the darkened path of smoldering embers and felt eyes surrounding her from every direction. More than one pair and definitely more than 5. Dreamcrusher could reliably count past five using all her limbs and tail. If she had to, she could count her two horns but that was only in extreme emergencies and this one definitely qualified. More than 6 pairs of eyes, she quietly amended to herself.
She walked along the narrowing path and felt her breath quicken with the thinning air. Each subsequent step felt like she was weighed down with turtleshells full of water. Her hooves had a mind of her own in this nightmare and they propelled her forward on ascendant ground. She reached a cliff overhanging a graveyard of big boulders. Her graveyard judging from the invisible limbs that pushed her forward. She dug her hooves in. She did not want to go forward. She did not fancy jumping to her death and the rocks looked anything but soft. The urging was becoming more insistent and the pushes my forceful. Inch by inch, her resistance was ignored as she was prodded to the edge.
Dreamcrusher closed her eyes. She knew what would follow with a sinking feeling in her gut. No matter how much she thrashed and tried to will her hooves to the ground, she was propelled off the cliff against her will.
Sucking in air, she yelled and closed her eyes at the ground that was getting closer. One last yell before---
Dreamcrusher woke with a jolt, her eyes wide open, hooves kicking out and a warble of "NO!" vehemently ushered forth from her hoarse throat. She is not on rocks, she is alive, she's whole, and she has all her blood inside of her pelt. She is safe. For now. Right? Her thoughts are misfiring like a thunderstorm and it's only when her heartbeat calms down that she notices the form next to her. Small and cuddly, it was definitely not there when she finally fell to sleep. The constantly moving around woke the form and it yawned in her face something terrible cute. She checked just to be sure. It had small fangs but not red glowing eyes. It had a tuft of blue teal hair that it rubbed against her midsection before settling back to sleep. She nosed it a bit and a furry arm swiped at he air beside her nose as it grumbled and burrowed deeper into her fur. Soon enough snores could be heard. It was cute. So cute and bizarre, and in time she relaxed and fell asleep to its earth shattering snores.
