SUMMER SOMEWHERE - Tribe Event ORP! Come to the beach!

Post by Ruriska »

With the morning sun glittering on the waves and the sand already warming beneath the hot rays, it was shaping up to be a beautiful day. The Sand Bar had picked the perfect place with a wide stretch of sand to play on and a few shady areas to escape from the sun. Rocky cliffs just a short walk away led to dazzling rockpools that held plenty of excitement for curious kin.

A pit had already been dug and a fire started, various roots and vegetables prepped and ready to be thrown over the coals. Or maybe a fresh caught fish or two would sate the appetite instead.

The Royal Rainbow Troupe had arrived the day earlier and were slowly waking up, shaking off the last of their exhaustion from their long trip and ready to sip some coconut juice or maybe something a little stronger and party the day and night away.

Newly ascended and looking fabulous, Watch Me was keen to show off his new look and abilities, as well as spending a little extra time with Parrot Head. The spunky Acha had been a delight last time they had met and this was the perfect opportunity to get a little bit closer.

The troupe had spread the word as they travelled and were hoping kin from far and wide would make the trip to join in the fun!

Watch Me marched up the tallest sand dune and looked out over the waves, the hot summer sun on his back and his world filled with so many lovely Acha, and he yelled,

“LET’S GET READY TO PARTY!”

With a lineage descended from his free-spirited, seaside-dwelling grandmother (A Touch of Wonder), and the fact that his own mother, Cinderstep, is a member of The Royal Rainbow Troupe, it seems only natural, then, that Radiant Tide would make an appearance at the gathering. As fabulous as his mother is, however, Radiant Tide seems to take on a more 'come what may' attitude, going where the tides of fate might push him. Which, more often than not, is toward a nap or a bit of frolicking in the surf and, when that becomes old, energetically bouncing around the other members of his extended family.

Today will be a glorious day, he knows.

While his father is busy making sand sculptures, Radiant Tide runs off to enthusiastically say hello to each and every new face he comes across, his tail quivering like that of an excited sanddog.

"Hello!" He exclaims, breathless with excited anticipation, eyes sparkling.

[imgright]https://matope.pixel-blueberry.com/imag ... uncert.png[/imgright]Zar had felt restless this year and that was really why he'd decided to get up and just go visit somewhere else, far away from the Seven tribal lands. When he felt like this, he needed an excuse to spool out miles under his hooves and just to walk out his anxieties. He'd followed the instructions he'd been given by one of the more well travelled kin in the tribe to get there, navigating by various landmarks throughout the swamp. Even in spite of his, he found himself surprised by the sheer distance involved and by the time he arrived several moons had come and gone. Still, he was here and everything here was completely different from the dark, dismal lands he'd come from. The ocean for a start was the most scary thing, water that went on and on like the sands of the desert, and he felt like if you went too far out there the swamp would pull you back with the Ache just the same way.

It felt almost too large.

Still, as he arrived, it seemed he was right on time, with what was shaping up to be a huge beach party just kicking off. Nice timing.

The kin here looked good, and there seemed to be entertainers in their midst.

Everything smelled really salty, but he could smell a fire pit too.

Not bad at all.

Everything was coming up Bizarre

[imgleft]http://matope.pixel-blueberry.com/image ... equiem.gif[/imgleft]The sand was a familiar feeling on her hooves. It brought back a lot of...well, memories to Memories. It was why she had avoided a visit to the beach for so long; she was afraid of what those memories might do to her. Being reminded of the life she once had back in the desert was always painful, but the years had eased that pain some. What really chased away the pain, though, was the gust of wind that tickled her side as her grandson rushed passed, kicking up sand in his wake. A smile grew on her muzzle as she watched him race off towards a group making sculptures out of sand. The past may be painful, but the life she had now, here in the swamp, was wonderful. And she meant to enjoy it.

“LET’S GET READY TO PARTY!”

Yes! Exactly!

Memories chuckled at the enthusiastic kiokote shouting into the wind and- with Flip-Flop thoroughly engaged in other things -made her way down the dunes and towards the fire pit. There was an irresistibly delicious smell that she needed to investigate.

[imgleft]https://matope.pixel-blueberry.com/imag ... uncert.png[/imgleft] It was often difficult to remember who was related to who in the Royal Rainbow Troupe. There was always a lot of babies and Watch Me lineage grew larger by the day. But Radiant Tide’s particular brand of yellow and blue was a dead giveaway.

Shouting Louder singled them out immediately, trotting over, searching his memory for exactly how they related.  He prided himself on having a good memory for such things and especially for the non-Acha that Watch Me still hardly paid attention to. They needed someone to champion their cause.

Ah, yes, that's who they were...

“Hello there, nephew!”

Bizarre arrived at the beach and it wasn't long before a little blue and yellow Acha had appeared at his side, bouncing on the spot in excitement. The troupe saw a lot of very interesting kin in her travels but this one was especially so.

“WOW, YOU LOOK FUN!” She yelled, right next to him, turning a few other heads.

Tremendous wasn’t very good at volume control.

[imgleft]http://matope.pixel-blueberry.com/image ... uncert.png[/imgleft] Almost There had been left in charge of the food. Not the cooking or the firepit, oh no, he wasn’t that lucky. Instead he had the thankless job of guarding the cooked food from flies.

They had set up numerous logs and covered them with leaves and then placed the various cooked or raw delicacies out for people to try. But the flies were a relentless force and were keen to get in on the party snacks.

And that was where Almost There came in, with a permanent concerned frown and a palm frond in his mouth, waving away the insistent bugs so that people could enjoy fly free food. Already his mouth and neck were getting tired.

Zar flicked his long ears back at the loud yell, to no avail at all. Staggering back a few steps, his hackles bristled he replied. "Wow! Voice!" It turned out the kin here were just as unpredictable as back home. Zar definitely had a bias against Acha thanks to his experiences with Mud Bath and treated them all as if they were a little bit prissy and soft in the head.

He curled his tail behind him and gave the Acha a fussy sort of look. "Well." he said. "I'm quite sorry to disappoint, but I have been told I'm the very opposite of fun."

"I'm also maybe deaf now." he added, deadpan.

[imgleft]https://matope.pixel-blueberry.com/imag ... uncert.png[/imgleft] Rather than be deterred by the Kiokote's reaction, Tremendous chose to take his stagger back and exclamation as a compliment. It was a nice voice! Wow!

She high-stepped in the sand, as if standing still was just not an option and she might just take off in a high-spirited dance at a moments notice.

"Oh dear!" She said sympathetically and then yelled in what she considered a very thoughtful way, "DO YOU NEED ME TO SPEAK LOUDER?"

She smiled and enunciated her words very carefully for her new hard of hearing friend. "I was talking about your appearance but I'm sure you're not as dull as they've told you." She bounced. "I like your tail!"

[imgright]https://f2.toyhou.se/file/f2-toyhou-se/ ... PhiLpG.png[/imgright]Merry had been having a rather good season, if she could say so herself. So many ghosts to chase, so little time.

The partying and rest was well-earned.

While a perpetual wanderer, the beach was a bit far from her usual haunts even for her. But the sand underneath her hooves was so natural for an acha she hardly noticed the difference. (Frankly, it was easier to cross than the swamp.) Adorned now in her summery flowers, she was here to have a good time before the wanderlust that consumed her sent her off once again to parts of the swamp long-untread by mortal hoof. Or at least, somewhere that wasn't here.

Look, she could try to be poetic about it, but frankly half the time Merry had no clue where the hell she was going either.

While not the type of performer the Royal Rainbow Troupe usually looked for, she was vaguely acquainted with their exploits. Not so much the Sand Bar's, but... Regardless, their parties seemed far more above-board than whatever the mess(?) the Seven had thrown was. Just as much fermented drink with about a 99% less chance of getting murdered, she figured. Of course, she'd already helped herself to some of it, in order to lighten the mood as she mingled with her fellow party-goers.

A few of her little (and not-so-little) pets stalked about the sidelines of the beach bash, but they made themselves scarce to kin that approached. They were not especially tame things to any kin but their owner.

Neither Nor kept up a facade, or so they thought, of cool aloofness. Sometimes it came across as just plain being awkward. An event like this, tempting as it was, might have slipped past them if not for Fear Itself. The young doe had quickly become Neither Nor's excuse to get out among other kin far more than they had previously. Even with their own sons Neither Nor hadn't been drawn into society the way they were with their adopted daughter. That may have to do with age, or maybe their personalities, but as was Neither Nor found themself trotting after their young charge and trying not to smile as she bounced like an acha with glee, her oddbody barely holding on around her neck.

The sun and ocean air was a rather nice change to their usual haunts deep in the swamp.

[imgleft]https://matope-swamp.com/images/blue/fe ... uncert.png[/imgleft] Fear Itself was fit to burst with excitement. It was her first time out attending a celebration far from home and after hearing (some!) of Single Out's stories about his time with Albatross and the furbodies (he had brought her home a special friend even!) she was eager to earn some stories of her own... with her Nini watching over her of course.

Zar wasn't at all used to kin who were high energy, normally found around Mud Bath who was perhaps one of the lowest energy kin in the entire swamp. He found himself unnerved by the restless and energetic Acha, taking another small step back from her. "No!" he said. "No more yelling!"

He looked down at himself.

"Dull?" he said, as if noticing his colours or lack thereof for the first time, but in spite of this his brain was still very much running to keep up.

"My?" he looked over his shoulder at his tail which was determinedly trying to curl up around his hide legs and hide from sight. "I don't have a lot of control over it." he said. It wasn't that it had a mind of its own, it was just that it seemed more hard wired to his own mind than the rest of him.

He looked at her hooves. "Do you need to use the bathroom?" he asked, the way she was restlessly moving like a ball of potential energy, he could only guess that she needed to go.

Tremendous rolled her eyes at his reaction and in a much more normal volume said, “Okay, okay, no need to yell. Sheesh.” Not that his rudeness had dampened her enthusiasm for his interesting physique.

“A long appendage that you have no control over, eh?” She teased and then laughed at her own joke. It was a shame none of her friends were there to hear that one.

The bouncing paused for a second, her head taking on a quizzical tilt. Such an odd question! “No, why would I? Oh, you’re so strange. I like you.” Chuckling, Tremendous approached the Kiokote, trying to circle around and get a better look at the tail that was trying to hide.

There was a flower-adorned pink Acha in their midst and Watch Me was incapable of doing anything else but be drawn to her side, like a moth to a flame. He cantered over, kicking up sand and making sure he showed off just how elegant he was, before slowing down to come to a halt before her.

“Welcome, fair lady,” he greeted, dipping into an elegant bow. “I am delighted you’ve come to join us on the beach today.” He smiled at her, very obviously appreciating her appearance. “May I show you around?”
