Be a Dear had been down this path before - in fact he'd been down this path four times. One would think he would be used to impending fatherhood but it never ceased to make him worry. There was just so much out of his control and he didn't do well in such situations.

Besides, the last times had been passing trysts that he had gotten caught up in. This time, it was different. She had cared for him when he was vulnerable, saved his life surely. He wanted to do all that he could to make sure she was taken care of - and their children.

"I will seek a blessing," he said, mostly to himself as encouragement.

“That’s a great idea!”

Having apparently just materialized from the ether, Watch Me cheered on the delightfully cute Acha buck from right beside him. The Kiokote had flown in as a bird and was now so used to his second body, unless he was trying to make an entrance, he often swooped in and simply changed forms as if he had been there the whole time.

“Maybe I can help?”

Be a Dear jumped back with a start and his body tensed, ready to flee at the sight of danger. But the voice that greeted him was cheerful and he relaxed, sensing no threat from the kiokote who had appeared before the acha seemingly out of nowhere.

"Oh!" He realised what was being suggested and Be a Dear gave a bow of his head in greeting. "I had expected a longer and harder journey - though I will admit I am grateful it will not end up that way." The acha breathed deep. "I seek a blessing for my children, as payment to their mother for saving my life - and bringing our children into the world."

“I took upon a long and hard journey in your stead,” Watch Me declared with great theatrics, though it had actually been a short flight as he had been napping nearby. “so that you would have more time to bask in the delight of your future fatherhood.”

He smiled indulgently. “You’re very welcome”

Watch Me nodded along with Dear’s request, “Ah yes, I am happy to oblige. May they be as brave as their mother and as thoughtful as their father, and full of great and many talents to share with the Swamp!”
