It’s a clear day, the sun warm enough to knock the worst of the chill out of the air as long as one remains in the sun. Despite their lack of fur, the zikwa with the mottled pelt seems to be unbothered by the cold weather, lost in their own world as they continue to steadily pull up various bits of plant matter with deliberate focus. A growing mound of herbs, roots, and mushrooms are piled into the smooth hollow of a turtle shell near their feet.
Every now and then they mumble something to themselves, though the words are scattered by the light breeze that tumbles playfully through the copse of trees they’re standing under.
