[B] Oops I Did It Again [Fresh Start x Stargarden]

Fresh Start was always one to foster relationships. He enjoyed the companionship of others, and he never turned down an opportunity to get to know other kin more. He was close to much of his large family because of that, and even loners like Buried at Sea took to his company.

....And because of this attitude he had many children. Even more soon, it seemed. After the last time he parted ways with a mother-to-be, the kimeti was surprised by an eaglehound-that-wasn't.

Ever since, he preferred to not have so much excitement in his life. Or, really, he at least wanted to be prepared for such excitement.

And to take some responsibility for the children to come; that too.

He contemplated the news, fatherhood again, as he went through his morning stretches. Should he tell others first or try to find one of those legendary kin? Or get breakfast? Decisions, decisions...

"And then the crane said to the squirrel, 'You're nuts!' What a twist, right?" Stargarden said, shifting his form briefly from stag to crane before shifting back to stag again. Stargarden was a bit for theatrics but he walked along with Small Bite, the caiman, who seem unmoved by the story or the performance.

"I knew you'd like that story." He confessed, flicking his tail toward the caiman who seemed momentarily interested long enough to casually snap at the tail before sliding into some water nearby.

The morning was nice, especially with a good story and pleasant company. Stargarden couldn't be happier that he had seemed to escape Frolic for the time being.

"Did I ever tell you the story about the pumpkin patch?" He asked Small Bite, not even noticing the caiman had retreated into the water. "No? Well, it started at the end of winter..."

Hearing unfamiliar voices this time of day was surprising, to say the least. And so close, even!

Fresh Start momentarily wondered if it could be one of the legendary kin, but that seemed...too convenient. The stories he heard usually involved a pain-staking journey to seek one of those gifted kin out, or otherwise the gifted kin would hone in on the parent. He could speak of personal experience with the latter.

They did not just pass through, did they?

In any case, he wanted to find the kin, or group of kin, and greet them before Buried at Sea could come upon them. Being so close to their little grotto, she did get territorial...

"Hello?" he called out, expecting someone with company. Instead all he seemed to find was a kimeti all on his own by the waterfront. ...Odd, to say the least.

Stargarden trailed off when he heard the sound of another nearby, perhaps lost in thought or distracted. Either way, that story ended abruptly. No one would ever find out what happened in that giant apple patch at the beginning of summer now! What a loss to the world!

"And an end of good night to you, too," Stargarden replied, his head looking around for the disembodied voice that had greeted him.

It didn't take too long before his glowing eyes settled on Fresh Start as the culprit of the greeting. The stag walked over toward him, curious perhaps? He looked the buck up and down and then swished his tail back and forth.

"How can I help you, turtle sir? I'm sure I can direct you to the proper quicksand for a dip."

(( Stargarden has the ability to grant temporary qualities to those he names based on the name he's given them. Fresh Start may find himself moving slower than normal. ))

Fresh Start cocked his head. The other buck's words made little sense. He was certainly a sight, though. A plethora of gnarled horns and a long beard, with eyes glowing brighter than on most kimeti.

"I, er, hope I'm not interrupting anything..." But when he looked around, no one else seemed present. Hm. Maybe it would be good if Buried at Sea showed up.

"I am just...not very used to others wandering through this way, and wanted to make sure you were not lost."

Stargarden watched the buck with curious intention. He heard the words but he was surprised that he didn't seem to accept his offer of assistance. What an independent turtle! The stag nodded his head along, the nest of horns springing to life for but a moment with the movement. His tail swayed back and forth with his head as it bobbed into the head nod. For a moment, it was as the stag had been teleported to another time and place.

"Lost? Of course not. I'm exactly where I'm meant to be," Stargarden said, his voice deep and soothing. "I'm here in this very moment to assist you, young turtle. Tell me, if you don't need help getting back home to your quicksand then is there anything else I can do for you?"

A kimeti who spoke in what felt like riddles, saying he was where he was meant to be, and asking if he could help. That felt familiar, though less...'I am going to pretend to be an angry dog' this time around.

But, seriously, could it be that easy? Would it be offensive to question that out loud?

So, Fresh Start chose to play along. And keep his cool, as difficult as it was the more he thought about things. Partly giddy, partly terrified in a way, only the sluggishness dragging him down kept him from nearly vibrating where he stood.

"I need to make a nest," he improvised. "For a visitor. A female visitor. I want her to be comfortable for the coming days. Could you help me with that?"

Stargarden stared in silence for what would probably be described as thirty seconds, standing perfectly still as his eyes watched Fresh Start with clear intent. Then he laughed, jolly and zealous, his whole body moving as he did so. It was as if someone had told a joke and it was hilarious. He smiled, shuffled his hoves back and forth, and then bowed his head a bit.

"I would be honoured to help," he said. "You know, I have a lady myself. She's big and beautiful. She lights up my whole world, you see... I remember back when our stars were born."

Stargarden looked around.

"Yes, sand and dried grass. That's a great idea," he said in reply. Did someone say something? Well, it wasn't important.

"Are you expecting a big family, young turtle?" He asked, his head bobbing up and down. "Oh yes, I would definitely say that you are."

Now... where could he get his hooves on some sand and dried grass? Stargarden began to walk away, of course, to find some sand and grass. However, a few minutes passed by and he never came back.
