[B] All for it [Albatross x Murder of Crows]

Post by fluo »

Albatross started with one ball, and another, and repeated with her remaining tentacles until quickly a pile amassed from where she stood. She added more and before she knew it, her shadow was gone and midday was staring down on her in a gentle warmth. All done, she stepped back to admire her handywork before adding a few more errant snowballs to the growing pile. Completely satisfied, she stepped back a few good paces, pivoted around, and ran straight to her pile. Right before the pile, she stopped suddenly and launched herself into a not so graceful arc to plop face down into the pile. Her little hill smushed in height but held firm. Rolling to her back, she sighed in contentment. The sun and wind ever gentle and perfect among the cold day, she breathed in and out slowly to ready herself for a nap. Closing her eyes, she resigned herself to the most luxurious pursuit- midday napping.

Murder of Crows sighed and heard an echo of one nearby which startled the poor doe out of her reverie. She was not alone. Rushing to the source of the sound she wasn't quite sure what she was expecting to find, but what she saw was not it. Never would she wager an octofurbody would be sunbathing or napping on a pile of softly packed snowballs.

"What are you doing?" she asked the thing, her sanity slipping away at the weird scene before her. Did furbodies do that?

Albatross cracked an eye open. Just when she got comfortable, an intrusion had to occur. She swore the MotherFather had the most interesting and underdeveloped humor of any being she knew. Even rocks were more reliable and consistent. Though this form was limited, she turned to her side and purposely gave the doe her back. Its meaning was universal and sleep was slipping through her tentacles.

She should have been insulted at the obvious cold shoulder maneuver but Murder of Crows had more pressing things on her mind and something more pressing on her ever small bladder. Sighing once more, she sat down and leaned against the pile careful to not disturb the annoyed octo furbody. The MotherFather or Luck itself was not to be found. She came across a wandering kin who spoke about the power of "speaking things into existence." Giving it a try, she spoke softly, "If only I could find a legendary kin to get a blessing. I could rest and enjoy the rest of the time in blessed silence"

Albatross promised death and retribution before opening her eyes. Breathing through her beak she ran the options through her mind. She weighed each option before rolling her eyes backwards and forth as furbodies were wont to do. She rolled back to the other side before lightly hitting the other kin in the ear before sliding down her makeshift hill. Shifting to her first form, she looked down at the down and out kin. She sighed.

"Geeze, is it so hard to nap these days? Tell you what. You've got an uncanny knack for finding legendaries. I'm here. You want a blessing right? You're going to have to do something for me. Nothing malicious. Agree now so we can speed this up. Some of us have important things to do and this pile of snow isn't big enough for the both of us." A little sleepy swagger hung over her mannerisms, but Albatross made her point clear and direct. Either now or never.

Murder of Crows' jaw dropped inelegantly before a stammered "yes" could be heard. Better the malicious spirit you knew than didn't and after all her travels, she didn't think luck was on her side for her to encounter TWO legendaries under a short amount of time. There was no guarantee there was even another in the same territory. What if they had their own space?! And with her advanced growth happening, she couldn't move like she used to.

Bargain struck, Albatross laid out the blessing as succinctly as possible. If she was lucky, she could visit dream realm once more and get in some quality sleep before another kin came her way. The swamp sure was small when one was trying to find a place to sleep. She might as well have built her own snowy obelisk. It was a beacon for kin.

"Your brood will grow up smart and savvy. They will have situational awareness and nary any sleep troubles. They'll be fast and feisty." There. A small bit of payback.

"Now for your half of the bargain to uphold. Leave now. Go far far away and never come back. It is time for my nap" she all but growled the rest before shifting to her other form and climbing up the pile to sleep. Once again, her back was the kin should the pregnant kimeti get any other ideas.

Chuffed but underneath it all was palpable relief. She got what she came for and quietly slipped away from the octo furbody that was burrowing into the snowy mound. A distance away, she smiled. Everything was just peachy.
