He had come for her, as she knew he would. Her head had rested lightly on the does as she went to sleep for the last time, offering her all the comfort and love that she could. His voice though, it tore through her composure and there a soft "I don't even know her name. She wouldn't tell me, even near the end." which, was definitely conflicting with the fact Pestilence thought she merely was asleep.
He was close, and she pressed the side of her face against his side, breathing him in with a slow breath. "If it wasn't for where they'll both be laid to rest, side by side it could be seen as a dream, like she was a mirage.....but I hope she finally has her peace." she looked up at him, tears in her eyes. Now, wasn't the time to ask him. Later, in their nest when she could settle close, she'd ask those questions that had come up talking to the doe.
It took her a few moments to carefully ease the does head from her legs, laying it carefully on her mates burial mound as she picked herself up off the ground, and lightly wrapped her neck around his, drawing in a little comfort from him. "She...if I hadn't...all alone. I couldn't let her be all alone."
