[s] What Hides in the Flowers

Post by Nashawryn »

Image Hidden Beauty was tending her flowers carefully when she first heard it. It was a faint noise, almost a hum. She stopped what she was doing and listened for a moment. The sound did not return. Shrugging it off, she continued pouring water out of the rather large sea shell she’d been given by Sea of Tears. The roses needed water and that was the most important thing to her at the moment.

Later, she would question herself on why she didn’t just check around a little more than that. If she had things might have gone a little differently than they had. It started with the hum. A very faint, almost not there humming. She grew used to the noise after a few days, ignoring it in a steadfast manner. After a week of quiet humming she started to notice that her bushes seemed different. That the roses seemed to have grown slightly. As if something or someone was helping them grow more than just her.

Hidden Beauty started checking in all her bushes, shoving her head into small spaces and getting a bit scratched up. Not a fun task but she needed to know what was affecting the roses. Whatever it was, she wanted to use it even more. The sound of the humming guided her in instances but it always ended up leading to an empty area.

Finally, one day she heard the humming sound intensifying and quickly checked the bushes. Inside, to her great surprise, was a blue bee. She tilted her head this way and that curiously, wondering how the bee had found her rose bower. Bees were perfect helpers for flower growing. “Hello little friend. Have you been helping me with the flowers here?” The bee didn’t respond, of course, but it did fly closer to her. She stared at it for a while, thinking about what she could name it. “I think I’ll name you Bee Mine!” She shouted, sounding greatly pleased with herself as the bee flew up to her and landed on her back.
