It was her turn to tilt her head. "Interesting. So you are not purely acha... You seem surrounded by kiokote, and bucks, mostly. And now what is it that you are to do? Now that you have been a mother, and a mate?"

"I..." Ascent faltered. She looked to the ground. Her hoof prodded at one of the flowers as she thought. "I suppose...I don't know? I guess I'm waiting. Waiting for my mate, or my brother, or my sons. Waiting until the Motherfather blesses us with more children. Waiting until the next festival to celebrate, until my sons bring their own foals. I guess it's just a lot of waiting!" Even as she came to that conclusion, she laughed. "It must sound silly to someone with an important thing to do..."

"I do not think so," the zikwa responded without needing much time to come to her conclusion. "Perhaps your destiny is to be the acha among kiokote, to have a quiet life. That is not a bad thing. It is an experience, and an important one. You are getting it done now, instead of later. Back in the caverns, there are broodmothers whose final days in this world are to tend to the young. Perhaps they had not gotten to do so before. Perhaps it is the path they were always on. Who is to say. Is there at least joy in your life?"

Again, How Quaint's words went right over her head like a breeze. Ascent felt like if she tried to ask about any of it, the explanations would just confuse her further. And, really, she cared more about the question given to her. "I...I am happy, really! It's a bit boring, sometimes, but every day brings something new! Exciting things happen! There are always things to look forward to..." She then looked up at the zikwa, searching for approval.

How Quaint only returned to helping with the flowers and the sticks, twisting the stems to hold together. "Then you sound satisfied with this life. I would not worry too much about it. Take stock of all that you have accomplished, as not everyone finds such joy. Now. Let me know when we have made this to your liking."

Not everyone finds such joy... Ascent knew that, but she appreciated the reminder. She had fortune in having love from so many places. With that in mind, she too went back to work, and coordinated with How Quaint until finally, finally, she considered the work to be done.

"There we go!" she announced once the droopy circle of flowers was complete. "And...since you helped me so much...here!" The acha picked up the new thing she just made and dropped it over the taller zikwa's head. "For you! In thanks!"

"...Ah." How Quaint stood there, feeling quite strange with something sitting on her head like that. "I thank you for this gift. And for your company. If that will be all, I should continue on."

"Oh! Sure! No problem! Good luck out there, How Quaint!" Ascent chirped. "Come back with stories someday, okay?"

"If I find myself here again, I will, Ascent. May your life be fulfilling, as well as the next." With that, she strode off, a crown sitting on her head from then on.
