"Well, so health then," Thunder said steadily, no stranger to Tiding's brand of petty, "and happiness?"

Happiness was a safe one. If he suggested this, perhaps it would be over sooner, for everyone's benefit.

"If you won't do brains, I will," came a distinct mutter from the Acha loaf.

"Happiness," Shallows agreed firmly, ignoring any distinct mutterings from his petty little father who would not win this time, "that will be all they need."

Thunder weighed up his options, looking briefly at both father and son, and then decisively stamped his hoof to anchor himself for a good yelling.

"KIND MOTHERFATHER, HEAR YE YOUR CHILDREN," he cried, "HEALTH AND HAPPINESS FOR OUR SON AND HIS CHILDREN. WHICH IS TO SAY, OUR GRANDCHILDREN. VERY MUCH APPRECIATED, THANK YOU!"

Well, if there was to be any fallout after that, at least there would very likely still be grandchildren to coo over in a while. After all, a lack of brains perhaps had never harmed Thunder any.
