Another new adventure into the caves? Well, being a part time cave dweller herself (though more and more it seemed the surface plucked her away for interesting escapades), it only seemed natural to Easy Rhythm to help out Heart and Home and her mate. The zikwa would be glad to help with food, water, and anything else they might need along the way, of course.

Reluctant stared a long moment sure he recognized the doe from last year, but maybe he was wrong. He wasn't sure so he didn't say anything and instead found somewhere out of the way to hang out for the time being.

Will was not very pleased about a booth that involved an extensive trek to lands unknown, but he was willing to do what he had to. The market was part of some ritual that marked the season; he knew it in his bones, and partaking of the bounties was part of embedding himself in that tremendous cyclical power for the coming year. He obeyed the commands of the various groups around the swamp at this time of year because he felt compelled to do so.

And also because all around him were prey and opportunities. Distraction was his friend, walking at his side in all things, guiding him to the next captive for his plans. This should be no different, he reckoned.

Surely, the Zikwa would overlook a few missing foals, especially if they were long gone by the time they realised they were missing.

And so, he was willing to travel despite being intensely exercise averse whenever he could help it.

He waited by the side of them to begin.

Smiling, always smiling.

Stone Skip was, at his core, a rather simple acha. He liked rocks, he liked adventure, and he liked adventures that ended in many, many shiny rocks. A trip to caves sounded like a perfect way to combine both these interests, and so he happily decided to join. With his companion Finder perched on his back, it was bound to be a great trip. What could possibly go wrong?

It had been a long time since Where Rivers Are Found had made the journey home. A long, long time, most of it spent thinking that such a journey would not be possible. That she would be taking the trip led by a totoma...well. It excited and terrified in equal measure.

Hollyhock had always wanted to go to the caves, to live among the zikwa and learn from their ways. She had missed the previous opportunity because it sounded somewhat too dangerous for a blind doe. Her meager attempts to go by herself had ended in failure, because of the Ache or the dangerous journey through the swamp or the fact that she had no idea where she was going or how to get there. But these kin had set up a booth in the Winter Market, so it had to be somewhat safe, didn't it? (Absolutely not, but the Winter Market was often overwhelming to her, so she didn't really know that...) And they probably knew the way. "I'd like to join," she said to a kin with a deep voice who seemed to be the leader.

Heart and Home was welcoming everyone who decided to join, reassuring them that with all the preparations they were taking, they were certain they'd be able to make it safely! "It's been done before, it can be done again." Had been the mantra Heart was going by.

Most of her large family was off doing their own thing and she was very proud of their independence. But she was equally (perhaps even more) pleased when one of her sons came up to her. The glow in her chest seemed to brighten when Smoldering Ember expressed his desire to join them on their little expedition.

"Of course we'd be happy to have you!" She said, giving the young buck a light nuzzle as if he was still a foal in her eyes. "And I'm glad you've been able to take a look around the Winter Market. We won't be gone too long, though you and Forward may need to remind me about the right direction to take. I still get some routes confused."

Her sense of direction (or rather lack thereof) was no secret. Hence the relief to have extra help.
