There was a real abundance of creatures at this winter market, most remarkably complacent and easy pickings for a quick snack. Slough had just found himself a meal when he accidentally wandered - still chewing - into a quieter area where a group of kin were covering themselves in feathers.

Apparently he stood there long enough that they presumed he was part of the group and judged him in their weird little competition. They told him he did indeed look like a bird. Whether that was because he already came pre-feathered or because nobody wanted to argue with someone splattered with blood, he didn't know.

The owls stared down at him at judgement and he stared back, eyes narrowed.

He’d win this staring contest too!

RP Entry:
Wish Right Now didn't often have a chance to be included in any fun winter market activities because of her vagabond lifestyle. But ever since she had her children and gained a more stable place to stay, she found that she had the time to get up to some creative pastimes.

She gathered up some leaves and tried to string them together as best as she could with the little experience and dexterity she had. Eventually she had a passable pair of wings that she could strap on to her back to look like an owl... maybe?

(Optional)RP or Art Entry: Heartwood knew a thing or two about disguising herself in the woods; one of the first things she'd learned was how to hide amongst leaves as silently as a tree. She wasn't as good at being a tree as her dad or sister, but she had that quiet way about her that let her be a pretty good mimic. Her owl disguise was made of several shaggy pelts, groomed carefully and studded throughout with feathers to give the illusion of soft plumage. Two round holes with dark shells attached to the insides served as eyes, but her antlers and ears poked through. Couldn't really help that, and from a distance maybe her antlers would remind others of the ear tufts some owls had. An enormous pine cone that hadn't yet opened was carefully daubed with paint to make a beak, and resin held it to the front of of the costume. Sure, she was giant and, um. On four legs, but it at least captured the spirit of an owl.

What Role Are They Seeking?: Guard
Why Do They Want To Apply?: Heartwood grew up learning about the value of the forest and its creatures from a father who has more in common with a tree than his own children. She has always had a hard time seeing the forest for the trees, as it were, and would like to have more of a focus than just protecting what she sees as a nebulous idea. Owls are more than just an idea! She'll spend her time at the sanctuary checking trees and nests and helping relocate any owls whose homes are in danger of falling or have any other issues caused by tree problems.

(Optional)RP or Art Entry: He was a guide and tracker, not -- .. whatever this was. Making his way around the clearing he picked up whatever he could find: a couple of owl pellets, a feather or three, and a few thin twigs. The result was not exactly spectacular, and his dour expression seemed to indicate he thought the same.

Why Do They Want To Apply?: In Harmony wants to be involved in any tribe that decides to enrich the world with any sort of animal or familiar. She prefers the Ambassador role because she will talk your tail off about any sort of familiar or animal if you stand still long enough. You will know about the owls.

(Optional)RP or Art Entry: Owls! Oh boy oh boy, Owls are so hard to come by and these ones were so pretty. Waves was starry-eyed as he observed them from a distance. Waves ran around the area, trying to find things to dress up for the owls and be admired by them (he hoped). He didn't find much,a lot of the good stuff picked clean no doubt. He returned and gently tucked colorful feathers into his tail and around the fins on his back, giving himself a lovely pop of color! Not perfect, not fancy, but nice enough in Waves opinion.

How Well Did You Do?: 9-10: You must be an expert on owl anatomy. Everyone can hardly tell you aren't one yourself.
(Optional)RP or Art Entry: Breaking Free is skittish, and afraid, and worried and - well okay she's pretty much everything negative. But the booth seems safe. The buck running it seems more concerned with the owls, than most of the kin, and so Breaking Free takes a gamble. It's a long time for her to gather the materials, looking at the nearby owls and then back to her own costume, being careful and cautious. But the time taken feels good and when she finishes, she feels like she did a great job. It's one of the better things she's felt in a long time.
