SALAMANDER HATCHING -- New Salamander Acquisition Thread

With his stomach containing something other than mushrooms Bite was finally able to drift into a fitful doze. Nearly the whole day passed him by in sleep before the acrid smell of burned feathers and the Voice's angry hisses roused him. Crawling out from the shredded eggshell was a bright orange lick of flame. It's light once again bringing an unnatural glow to Bite's stone cup beside it. Bite watched as the salamander stomped on the feathers littering the cave floor around it, each one disappearing in a flash of flame. He exhaled a small breath of air at the newborn and drew it's attention. Quicker than he would have thought possible, the salamander twisted around his ankles and up his shoulders. It's heat sudden and painful but not altogether unpleasant. Bite settled back down as the salamander made itself comfortable between his shoulder blades. Hopefully by morning he'd be well enough to move on.
