The sound of rain pummeling the ground surrounded the world.
Water poured over every surface, the water running down each surface like a flood.

Squish.
Squish.
Squish.
Squish.
The aroma of berries filled the air, and the crevices of some hooves.

A normal day in the swamp. A gathering of kin have surrounded each other in a field, each arriving with their own pinecone in their mouth. The goal is to toss their pinecone and the closest to the target wins.
1...
2...
3...
I toss mine with all my might.
It hits.

A darkness is surrounds, drenched by the echo of the river's flow. Inside the land where light dares not go.

I walk alone in this world of one.
Slipping through the cracks of the world.
Time is still like a pond after a storm.
One step in front of the other.

Snow fell softly.
A crow cawed in the distance.
Cold winds blew.
Eyes watched from above.

Dry wind bellowed.
Clear skies screamed.
Sunshine beat down.
Clouds slowly formed.
Head tilted up, mouth high, met with the rain.
Gales of Laughter

Storms blew in and every creature took shelter.
All but one.
A buck stood tall in a field, head held high into the sky as he
laughed
and laughed.
Floppy Ears

A rabbit sits in the field, rockings its head back and forth in an unusual manner. The ears were enticing.
Consuming.
How do you look away from those floppy ears?

Closing my eyes, I can see the world. Opening my eyes, I am limited by sight.
Burning Heart

In the center of the swamp, a fire burned
passionately. The fire beat like the sound of a stampede for the swamp was inside us all.

This totoma was always rather stubborn and reached the zenith of this trait when he earned his name by knocking free some boulders blocking the way with his skull. That's one way to do it.

Dozens of bananas had fallen from the trees, making an easy snack for a swampdweller. They were delicious.
Nightmare

The leaves crunched under the hooves in the distance.
Slowly, but surely.
Purposely.
A laughter filled the air, a cackle tickling through the air.
"I can hear you," a whisper called.
Silence as fog rolled into the swamp, filling all the voids within it. Nothing was untouched.
"I can see you," the whisper called.
Shadows rushed back and forth, the world spinning around in an attempt to adjust.
Leaves crunched louder, and louder.
The sound was closer and closer.
A scratching against the bark of a nearby tree filled the emptiness and any reprive.
Frozen Breath

Deep underwater, I breathed.
Slivers of ice formed icebergs from my soul.
