She knew her dark pelt was her blessing, and was keen to use that to her advantage. Under the shadow of the new moon, she stole from the enemy, replacing the dwindling resources of her own tribe. She did so without bragging or fanfare, though through gossip and incessant questions, her comrades eventually confirmed that she was indeed the one behind the new moon boon.

Constantly lost in some daydream, he was quick to fall behind. Even as a lamb, he found himself easily distracted, always running to catch up to his twin. Perhaps it was lucky that they were taken in by calm beachgoers, he never would have survived in a typical Totoma pack.

His distracted nature had actually prepared him well for his job among the tribe. When he would help his fathers with their food orders, he always kept a level head during the big rushes. He was used to falling behind, so his bursts of focus and cool nature worked well to get him through his tasks. After the triumph of a particularly difficult summer day, his tribe put a name to what he was so good at— playing catch-up.

She was not a skilled fighter. She was a skilled speaker. She knew the swamp did not need war, and she made it her mission to end it when tensions peaked. Once, she intervened between two opposing sides, drawing up a treaty for the both of them, assisting them in coming to an agreement over land disputes. They rewarded her with food and drink, and made sure to offer her name and services to other factions in need.

It was an accident. The fight was never supposed to end in death. His opponent was sickly, but she was obstinate in her challenge. He refused many times, but accepted once. One fight was all it took. Perhaps she longed to die in battle? Perhaps he should have gone easier on her, and maybe then he would have missed that fateful blow. Things would be different. He wondered about these things often.

Anytime the questions plagued him, he brought flowers to her grave. In time it brought him clarity, solace, and a name.
