A dream of deep water.

Floating untethered in darkness, surrounded by the water’s roar in new forged ears.

Dark solitude. Ancient yet ageless darkness yawns and watches.

How long has it been?


Then came the light.

It flits through the dark. Someday it will remind him of a fish.

For now it’s just.

A Message.


Pursuit and feeling his breath sap away.

But a need to know where it leads.

Even death is less fearful than the dark forever.

Lungs ache, vision blurs.

The light is him.


A snap of teeth in the darkness.

Too sudden.

Closed tight, a trap around him.

Panic. Thrashing terror.


Striking out against shell, between dream and reality.

Escape the dark.

He would be the light. He would lead and never be led.
Lead others to the teeth in the dark.


Deceiver.
