Now You See Me

Post by Kinu »

Image

Twin heads peeked from around the back of a large tree. Blinking their glowing eyes and grinning a snake charmers grin.

"Now You See Me." The Green Acha hissed impishly from behind the tree. Their grin widening further if that were even possible.

"Now You Don't." The Red Acha hissed, equally as impish, their grin mirroring their siblings as it widened unnaturally. Slowly their heads slipped back behind the tree. The two vanishing completely into the darkness. Only the sound of their giggles fading into the night remained.

Rain Falls Softly

Post by Kinu »

Image

Rain Falls Softly. The world is calm. Silent. Not a creature stirs. Everything in shades of blue. It almost makes you melancholy except that it's rather peaceful. He closes his eyes and turns his face skyward. The rain. It feels like a gentle caress. Like the MotherFather is whispering his story to him. He sighs into the storm and opens his eyes. The clouds are impressive, large and voluminous. Within them are unnumbered loves and losses. Triumphs and Failures. He is ready to face them all. His quiet disposition one of stoicism rather than vacancy. He feels it all but he doesn't show it. Breathing in deep the currents of cool air that drift by. They fill his lungs and awaken his soul. In the rain he feels his strength, as it beats down it reminds him what it is to be alive.

Witching Hour

Post by Kinu »

Image

The darkness surrounds us. It consumes and engulfs us. The fireflies wink in and out of the void, like so many eyes, always watching. A low hiss from the tarry pits of the deep swamp. The sound of boiling as the bubbles from far below the surface roll up and pop. Where crickets should be singing there is only silence. An eerie feeling perpetually grips the soul here. It should be day, or is it night? Neither seem right. Here there is no time. Only The Witching Hour. Always. It would be easy to become lost here. To lose yourself completely. Her eyes open. She pulls herself from the tarry depths and onto solid ground. A writhing mass of matter that takes shape. She is a creature. A monster. But she is also the swamp. As she breathes in the fireflies alight within her eyes and they burn brightly. Twin beacons. A low growl of a laugh escapes her, both haunting and frightening. She is born.

Drag You Down

Post by Kinu »

Image

The lost souls clawed and grabbed for anything to help them as they began to sink beneath the water. Wandering out into the deep swamp they had made the grave mistake of stepping into the water. They hadn't realized it was deeper than it looked. Almost unnaturally so. Reaching for help that would not come they struggled, panic setting in. From below a pair of red eyes snapped open, a flash of white announced a shark-like grin that beamed with the pleasure of their predicament. With a low laugh that sounded almost unnatural she wrapped her teeth around the ankle of the unfortunate creature and dragged them down. As the last few bubbles escaped their lungs the swamp stilled again. As though no-one had been there in the first place.

Follow the Sun

Post by Kinu »

Image

Into the sun she was walking. The colors melting all around her. It was hard to discern what was the sun itself and what was simply the brilliant light it cast. All around her the lights danced and melted, brilliant colors swirling together. As she crested the hill the shadows fell and all of the bright colors were sucked back up into the sky, casting deep shadows across valleys of purples, pinks, and reds. The sun, a bright orb in the distance, waited for her. Holding its colors locked away. Leaving only the shadows of colors behind. "Follow the Sun." She heard a whisper in her ear. And so she did. Through rough terrain, over crests and down falls. Towards the sun. She would never give up. One day she would reach it and all of the colors would return.

Strong Roots

Post by Kinu »

Image Roots, firmly planted in the soil, withstood all time had to give. Wind blew and raged across the land and still they held firm. Floods came, ate away the earth, still they would not budge. Even insects could not sever the ties of the roots as they dug deeper into the earth and healed what bits of themselves were devoured. Strong Roots never break. They held fast, protecting their tree, keeping it upright no matter the cost.

Bleed For Me

Post by Kinu »

Image

The kin spit blood, his body broken in the dust as her hoof dug deeply into his throat. Her teeth gritted hard as the adrenaline surged through her veins. She felt a flutter of excitement fill her belly at the sight of him. So proud. Proud no more. "Bleed for me." She growled as she raised her hoof and sent it crashing into him one more time.

Run For Your Life

Post by Kinu »

Image

His laughter followed the other buck, cold and cruel, as the buck ran and ran. As fast as he could. "You can run.. you better run. Run for your life little fool." The bucks voice hissed from close behind. No matter how fast the other buck ran his pursuer was close behind. His heart pounded in his chest. Fear sharp like copper in his throat. "Run, run, run.. I'll get you anyway." Looking behind him to see how far away the buck was he smacked right into something. Dazed, he whipped his head around. Face to face with his pursuer. "Time's up." Darkness swallowed him.

Crooked Forest

Post by Kinu »

Image

Wrong. It was wrong. It was all wrong! The forest slanted sideways suddenly. As if someone had taken it and tilted the angle improperly. All the creatures began sliding. The birds ran into tree trunks, fell to the ground, then slid off with the other animals. The pebbles and loose ground cover vanished into oblivion. All the water poured out and into the void. There he stood. In the middle of it all. Seeing everything. All he could think was that this Crooked Forest was WRONG WRONG WRONG!

Moonlit Flight

Post by Kinu »

Image

Silvery moonlight flooded the landscape, the night breeze was biting cold and refreshing at once. He felt it course across and through his pelt as he soared over moonlit clouds. His hooves brushed their tops, like running fingers through water. He closed his eyes, inhaled deeply, and when he opened them again he felt more alive than ever before. He felt like moonlight himself and this Moonlit Flight was his charge across the world as a moonbeam.

Starry Eyed

Post by Kinu »

ImageShe left the world behind.
Her hooves no longer touched the earth.
Skimming the tops of the trees she giggled and wrinkled her nose at the sensation.
She rose above the clouds and her spirit became giddy as the bright moon came into view.
The skyfleas shone and gleamed, gathering around her and riding upon her pelt.
She trotted through the air, she twirled and sang, and danced.
She had never felt happier and the beauty of her soul burned brightly across the heavens.
And so taken were the stars with her that they put stardust in her fur and starshine upon her hooves
And they sent her home to sleep, Starry Eyed and new.

Even Lovers Drown

Post by Kinu »

Image

Their days were filled with summer sun, with warmth and life and love abounding. It was their oyster. Their triumph. Their beautiful treasure shared between them.
But the days grew cold. The joy slowly draining. Just a trickle at first but soon a river. The waters began to rise up around them, they couldn't fight it after having fought for so long to keep the flames of their passion alive.

"Why is this happening?" He asks, struggling to understand, struggling to stay above the surface.

"Even Lovers Drown.." She whispers and sinks slowly beneath the hungry tide.

The River Runs Gold

Post by Kinu »

Image

The sun rose over the mountains slow and steady. Rising from the earth and into the heavens like a phoenix. Its light pouring into the earth and striking out over the rivers. Filling the beds and flowing through the swamp, illuminating all in its wake as it rides the backs of the waterways. Casting a glow across flora and fauna, lighting up the world and chasing away the darkness. Brilliant golds churned and swirled through the wilderness on a path, charging through the waters toward some unknown end. The warmth filling all with a sense of wonder. On days when The River Runs Gold all the kin are at peace.
