Follow the wandering mist as it creeps
Watch it wrap and enfold
Feel the heartbeat of the swamp
Singing tales ancient and old
Mind the steps that you tread
For danger could lurk out of sight
Your eyes alight in the darkness
The Rolling Mist haunting at night

In the still twilit hour
Of one very calm summers eve
There came to me soft dreamlike music
So faint that my breath might deceive
My heartbeat fluttered and stilled
For fear that it might fade to naught
Yet here understanding awakened
For from my soul the Dream Song was wrought

Turning Path

The path it curved and it rounded
A path both wild and unkind
With steps so treacherous and winding
That minding hooves allowed eyes to be blind
For no turning point ahead could be noted
The path circled round and around
No turning back on a path never-ending
For a Turning Path was the one he had found

Their hearts could not take it
Their hearts could not view
The terrible truth that within me grew
Their love it was fine
Their love it was free
But never, no never, was love within me
In ashes, in dust, left behind they did sigh
As Deep Ruin finally birthed my last lie

A soul without laughter, a mind so bright
Companions you find such a trivial blight
No humor you see in jest and in joke
Ill-tempered by fate, on indifference you choke
The world in the sky, you find guides your path
With queries so ravenous and questions so vast
The constellations they call, falling stars they impart
A fire to discover, to learn and to chart.
The heavens they smile and mock you triune
The darkness, the stars, and that Grinning Moon.

The swamp it heaves and rumbles
Like a great creature breathing
He runs as fast and as far as he can
But can find no Steady Ground.

The world asleep, the moon awake
The oasis tempts, your thirst to slake
The desert sands they glitter and glow
The wind will aid you wherever you go
Across the wilds, over the dunes
A song on the breeze, the coyote croons
Deep in the desolate, close to its heart
A gem so pure, a true work of art
Dancing and reeling, in mirth an expert
A jewel among all, Sapphire of the Desert

Stalking Bear

As Stalking Bear, along with the others from the contest, are based on Five Nights at Freddys I had to think of something that was appropriate both for Freddy and for the Totoma. His personality is in the contest thread but this is how his name came to be.

As a group, Stalking Bear and his friends all suffered horrid abuses at a young age and were pretty much left to their own devices. Therefore out of neglect the Totoma was never afforded an opportunity to commit an act of bravery or valor until he met his friends. As each of these characters experience a terrible shift in personality come nightfall they can often be spotted lurking through the darkness looking for victims to terrorize and traumatize.

One such evening found the group in a dangerous predicament. As they were on the trail of a kin the group was surprised by a large, ill-tempered bear which, having been startled by their silent approach, rose up in rage with the intention of removing the perceived threat permanently. The Totoma, true to his given name, had been stalking/lingering behind and having spotted the bear before the others he quickly reacted. In order to protect his fellows he charged the creature and rammed the bear with all of his strength, sending it flying into a tree where it was knocked unconscious which allowed them all to escape and continue their hunt unscathed. From that day forward he was known as 'Stalking Bear'.

Blooms at Night

The sun kissed her pelt softly
As she wandered over the grassy plane
The fragrance of the flowers was intoxicating
Though too strong, so strong it made her dizzy
These flowers that worshipped the sun
Whose petals reached for its warmth
Crowns of dew upon their brows
And petals so vibrant in hue
Yet these charmed her not
And she felt herself pulled to the shade
The tree's above dappled her body
And she sighed as the coolness washed over
Her soul felt relieved
So deeper she went
To a place where the light could not reach
And there in the distance she saw
A lone flower vibrant and strong
Growing deep in the heart of the swamp
No sun to tell it to wake
No warmth to kiss its face
Here it did thrive where others would wilt
And yet here it was so alive in the darkness
Beyond compare in the shadows
This flower which Blooms at Night

The Lady Doth Protest

His words made her dizzy
His scent made her weak
Just the mere sight of him and she felt she would faint
Oh this bright dream!
This vision!
How she longed for him so
And how he knew and teased her for her torment
Her emotions were pulled as though her heart had strings
And he the puppeteer
She stomped her hooves in frustration
As he circled around and around her
The smirk on his face drove her crazy
And still she loved him ever more
As she called out her protests
Her heart fluttered wildly in her breast
"The lady doth protest too much, methinks."
He chuckled and jested
What a shameless coquet!
She could hardly stand him
But oh how could she help herself?
She would always be his.
He was a muse of love in the flesh
She was a helpless artist awaiting his inspiration..

Tattered Moth

[imgleft]http://matope.pixel-blueberry.com/image ... h_kinu.png[/imgleft]☽I'll tell you a story..
-Flutter Flutter SMACK-
Or perhaps sing a song?
-SMACKSMACKSMACK-
A tale filled with wonder!
-Smack, flutter, flutter-
Yes? Shall I go on?
-Flutter, Flutter, SMACK-

A flame, a flickering flame. Stories.. faint voices in the night. Tales passed from Kin to Kin. Through them weaves a moth, his wings singed by the firelight as he listens. Listens raptly to the stories. So focused on their beauty he cannot see that his once beautiful wings are tattered. Such a tattered moth, but oh the tales he knows by heart.

Moss-Flower

The Flower unfurled herself
Alone on the small mossy bank.
With petals of cream and a star for a heart.
She tilted her face to the late sunlight.
The day grew softer and the shadows lengthened
As night stole the light from the sky
Silent as rainfall and gentle as a feather
The moss began to grow
And enveloped the flower ever so carefully
Like a star-crossed lovers arms
And whispered to the flower so sweetly
That love was the cure for us all.

☽The wind howled like a pack of wolves hunting through the sparse trees.
The barren branches above shuddered in dismay as the last of their leaves left the great canopy.
The raining foliage showered over his still form as he stood, like a statue, amidst the snow coated swampland.
His ears perked to listen, head tilted skyward, as he reveled in the mournful call of nature.
The breeze picked up then, stealing the frosty breath from his nostrils. He was at peace.
This sanctuary of winter, of endless white and crystalline ice.
Here was his pack. His soulmate. This cold solitude. This Winter's Howl which echoed to his very core. Here he belonged.☾

Elder Tree

☽The tree was large, so big it swallowed the sky.
Trunk twisting and ancient, the color of pale ash.
The branches, finger-like, combed the breeze and all the golden leaves danced in time to the rhythm of the wind.
This tree, old and wise, had seen so much.
It had lived a thousand lives and now it sat quietly, contentedly, in the late afternoon sunshine.
Elder Tree.
With wisdom to span lifetimes.
Waiting for any who needed.
A snooze in the shade.
A place to weather out the storm.
A home to come back to.☾
