For many seasons, Great Old One has honed her strength, seeking new challenges and dangers to face in order to test herself. When the Obelisk began to hum its alluring song, she, like many others, had been drawn in to slate a bloodlust that hadn't (entirely) belonged to her.
There, she had encountered many kin she'd never seen before. Kimeti, kiokote and acha, all from lands distant to her in the cold and lonely mountains. Only the burly shapes of the Totoma had been familiar. Yet, even some of the zikwa had been odd - having spent their entire lives in the Swamp, a place which sounded strange and curious, and, perhaps, ripe with opportunity.
Then she'd discovered The Lure of Fear, a zikwa buck that had managed to catch, and hold, her attention.
Beneath the baleful glare of the Obelisk, Great Old One finds she is rather pregnant. Only just barely beginning to show, but she knows her body well enough to recognize the signs.
She knows, somehow, that no trial she's put herself through will compare to being a mother for the first time. Already, she feels a growing sense of pride for her unborn offspring - and a hope that, like her, they will be strong.
