[PRP] In Distress [ Damselfish / Distant Thunder ]

Post by Jun »

[imgleft]http://matope.pixel-blueberry.com/image ... uncert.png[/imgleft]Ah. It had happened - it must have, because she told him so: their children to come.

Damselfish's heart was as full as the swell of the sea in which he stood, washing roiling waves over his legs, his chest - sometimes up to his neck. As you can see, it was very full instead, and such was his heart.

It was also very dangerous, but that was the only way he could see the beautiful doe of his lovelorn sighs, where she lived with the two beautiful does of hers.

It's complicated.

A blessing - it struck Damselfish: he had to get a blessing. It was the least he could do for the children he so anticipated...the children who would live in the sea with their mothers.

...Yeah, he should really get a blessing. For safety.

He would have to go on a quest to find a Legendary!

And so Damselfish began on his quest for a blessing by puttering anxiously back and forth in the roiling waves, because he wasn't named Damselfish for nothing.

[imgright]https://matope.pixel-blueberry.com/imag ... uncert.png[/imgright]Distant Thunder was busy galloping about the sands as a morning workout, his practised ear listening to the rumble of the sea as he sighted the darkening horizon. The sea was unsettled, a storm might yet come. If he couldn't find Tidings in the next couple of hours, he would have to hunker down and pray.

Then he saw a sole figure puttering around in roiling waves a little while away, and just a little while away from it as well, a gently swelling wave that foretold what was probably going to be a giant, unavoidable crash of water. At least, so he thought. But better not risk it. But maybe that's what they wanted?

Well, not on Thunder's watch. He dramatically called out in an exaggeratedly booming voice,

"OI! ARE YOU TRYING TO KILL YOURSELF??"

Damselfish paused in his puttering to gawk for a moment at the large kiokote buck stood on the shore, wondering if the Motherfather had heard his entreaties (that honestly he had yet to put forth, having just decided on his quest), although on his own part he had not heard the buck over the sea.

Well, the buck certainly was large.

And his eyes did glow.

But, then, so did his own. It was hardly a surety.

And he did look so very solid.

"I suppose not," he sighed, starting to pace again.

He could only vaguely hear his moaning over the waves, and elected to instead abuse his Legendary kiokote strength and speed by barrelling over and shoving into him, hopefully towards the shallower, calmer parts of the shore.

Thunder understood his actions as very heroic in his mind, of course, because that was his most natural, primary, Swamp-given instinct (so he assumed). But anyone else watching a glowy-eyed muscular buck launch himself at a sad, pacing Damselfish might yet have a different perspective.

Damselfish did the only thing any reasonable Kin could do being barreled over by a large Kiokote: scream bloody murder and cower into the surf.

"Don't hurt me!" he wailed, "I can't die before my beautiful children are born!"

"Then stay away from the - ohhhhhh," Thunder's anger dissipated as quickly as the calm tide, and he looked wonderingly at the buck he'd rammed his shoulder into, the little waves lapping at their hooves.

"Congratulations, I knew that! Haha! Ha! Haha!"

He laughed ever so uproariously and desperately, and it went on for a while as the sea rolled back out.

"What would you like for a blessing?" Thunder's chest puffed up, "for your lovely children, with your lovely doe?"

When the kiokote's booming words finally worked their way into his terrified brain, Damselfish's ears finally perked, and he slowly uncurled.

"You're a legendary?" he asked, with no small amount of incredulity, "you? A Legendary? Ha. Haha. Ahahahahaha! No wonder that they say to not judge a kin by their coat!"

Thunder was slightly indignant at the start of his speech, but by the laughing he became thoroughly indignant.

"What's wrong with my coat?!" he demanded.

Damselfish ignored that question, by dint of not hearing it, being now completely absorbed in thoughts of what he would like for a blessing.

"Let's see...may they be healthy. May they not drown. Very important, that. Living here and all. May they love their mothers - all of them. And...and me too, perhaps?" this, a little meekly, and then, "may they be happy in their skins, wherever they be."

What an unexpected moment of clarity from Damselfish.

"If you cease being so judgmental, perhaps they will be," He grumbled and splished about in the shallow water somewhat sullenly, before steadying his footing in the sand and yelling to the skies:

"MOTHERFATHER, GIVER OF LIFE, MAY HIS CHILDREN LOVE HIS...MOTHERS???" Now that he was no longer preoccupied by the insults slung upon him, he realised this buck seemed to be in a very particular familial situation, "AS WE LOVE YOU, AND THEIR FATHER TOO, AND TO BE LOVED BY YOURSELF, WITH HAPPINESS IN THEIR VERY COMPLICATED LITTLE LIVES."

Then Thunder grandly splished up some water over the buck violently as a tame revenge, and said, severely, "you're welcome."
