Their kill had been brought back and each had gotten their share, before he'd sunk into his bed beyond tired after the day. It felt like mere moments before he was awake again, but he didn't seem like himself. Instead of sharp, hard hooves he instead had paws that were soft, but strong enough to kill. Instead of a long draconic tail he had a shorter, fluffier one.
His sense of smell was keener, eye sight sharper, and hearing more capable. Beside him he saw Bite, who was looking at him, the fur on the back of her neck raised a warning growl from her. He tried to speak to her as he always had, and instead of soothing tones, out came a whine, a soft yelp conveying the same thing. Or so he hoped. It was harder to speak in wolf tongue than he would have imagined it would be. Still she seemed to relax, somehow he'd eased Bite's ire, and he was thankful for that, not wanting to feel her teeth and claws ripping into him.
There was a feeling of hunger, his stomach rolling unhappily, and he whined again, before he was on his paws, and he was running, following his nose. Some things, didn't change. He was tracking, easier than before. He could see things his eyes shouldn't have been able to see, and hear things he normally wouldn't have heard. At his side, was Bite, keeping pace, sometimes a sharp bark to get him to change course as their prey continued to elude them, but just barely so.
Finally they found their target. Rabbits. It didn't take long to catch them. Or well it didn't take Bite long, she had hers caught quickly, and was already feasting while he tripped over his paws a little more than once, slipping and dragging himself along the ground before he was up again, and finally managed to catch it.
He was amazed how easily his teeth tore into the rabbit, and he ate hungrily before he was yawning and curling up right where he was. He was tired from the chase, it wasn't something he was used to in this form, and it'd taken more out of him than expected plus he was no longer hungry. A short nap seemed like a very good idea, even though Bite was trying to urge him back to his feet, so they could go back home. With a soft huff he finally got back up, and plodded along beside her, content to let her lead at this point. He felt like he was struggling to keep his eyes open, all he wanted was to settle and to rest for awhile. Then, well then he'd figure it out.
When he woke next, or rather woke properly it was morning, and his companions were all still asleep, Bite at his side, and he felt as if his mouth tasted bloody still, lingering from his dream. Right?
