The air was so full of the heavy grit. The foul taste filled her lungs, blue eyes left wide to look around only to close as her sight was clouded as her lungs filled. She could not breathe, she could not see, she could not scream. It was not air, she was buried alive under shimmering yellow and staining black. A flash of fear felt as she realized that this was somehow to be.

And so she sank below, consumed by the expanse that was only the dust of gold and coal.

They touched the murky water, and barely moved in the breeze that blew them. A sad and strong sight they were.
The Wilted Branches that did not succumb to the beckon of the water that so pulled at their leaves.

The dark was not so dark, as the little dancing lights flit about.
The shimmer of the natural light of the creatures entranced those that watched on. The faceless shadows that so stared, that waited and watched and wanted to touch.

It was inevitable that one would strike out. "Mine mine mine!" Excitedly filled the air before it saw what was there. "NO!" It ran away then, the others following with. The lights fell to the ground then, and it was seen.

Each and every light had once been living. And at her feet was what they were, what it was. A simple, dead, Firefly Husk.

So hungry, but the land is bare. Blurred vision finds it, a single green stem in a sea of brown. But too late it's seen, before a bite could be taken, with one last breath, the warm body falls, joining the sea of death. And all before the Unbending Herb that still stands so proud.

It's like smoke, but it can't be seen, and each breath brings pain.
The birds die, the bugs have fallen.
And in one last push, these Tainted Winds seem to simply wipe everything off the face of the dreamscape.

She hated bullies. Any who picked upon the young or less able were trouble. It made her stomp and rage, huff and snort at the very sight of it. Even if she had no young or no siblings, she was always watching out...

And when a little one was being pushed about by three nameless older ones, she just couldn't watch. With thundering hooves, she burst in, her heart strong, rage in her eyes as she looked at the three, daring them to continue on the little one between her forelegs.

They pondered and turned tail, scared of the look she gave. "Thank you." The young kin spoke, a smile on his face. "Your eyes like burning, they scared them away!" With that, she felt she had earned her name, as the same look continued to aid many young ones before, this one was the only that stayed to speak to her.

Waves crashed above, the sun shining down like judgement as her hooves moved through the thick water.

So hot for water, it could burn her flesh as she fought for air, lungs filling with the salty water, her eyes slowly closing.

As movement ceased, the body was wrapped up by the currents, cradled away by the Inferno of the Sea.

She was a strange little lamb. Never moving into the dark, scared of all that was unknown. Her mother though she would get over it, yet as time passed, it seemed to grow worse and worse. Eyes felt her daughter might never get over such an odd fear. So she was sure to put her name to use, protecting her from those that harm the weak.

It did seem to come out though, the little one's strength. It came near night, as she had her eyes tightly shut, about to rest when the sound came. A startled sound, her mother. She rose quickly, not sure what to do. Dark was coming, and it was a scary time... But her mother. Her sweet protective mother... was she in danger?

She stayed at the edge of her resting place, trying not to look to the dark, to keep her eyes away from the thing she feared so much... But another cry brought her to open them, gold orbs looking to see where it came from... And what she got was not a Totoma doe in danger... but a beautiful sky, light fading away ever so gently. She'd never seen such a thing, and so startled was she, that she sat down, not seeing her mother step over, an amused expression upon her face.

"Seems you just needed that, Taste of Twilight. You're not so scared of the shadows now, are you?" She'd noted her daughter's open mouth, and the confused expression that reached her. It took a moment, but she nodded, not realizing she'd been given her name until later. And she accepted it then, enjoying what it meant for her as she walked through the moonlit grass.

The sun rises, but there is no need for the light.
A fire has blossomed on a corpse, filling the air with an acrid smell.
The sun sets, yet there is no light in the darkness.
From the fire, Only Teeth remain.
