Love is Blind meandered through the swamp, casually searching for a way to get a blessing for his first children. His father had told him the search differs for every kin but that he would know it once he'd found it. Love, being the sweet but fairly laid back kin he is, had decided to take his sweet time finding it. So he had made it as far as an area of the swamp that contained an unusually high volume of fragrant flowers. Love slowed to a snails pace as he bent to smell all the blooms closest to him.

Albatross secretly loved naps and flowers, and so when she stumbled upon a fragrant haven of soft blooms and bouncy foliage, she snoozed and faded to the sweet tidings of slumberland. Hunts were hard work and while planning and plotting didn't look like much, oftentimes those mental musings left her more exhausted than physically culling or moving rocks up mountains (this was a secret operation). She dreamt of victories to be had and fine mysteries when a cold snout woke her abruptly from her dreams. Lashing out instinctively, all tentacles flung themselves at the wet thing- a nose it happened.

She shrilled in protest and outrage at being awoken!

Love is Blind reared his head back in complete surprise as something squishy and yet also sticky slapped at his nose from within the flowers. “What the!” he shouted out loud in response to the sudden attack. Love quickly took a few steps back from the bed of fragrant blooms. He peered down at them, squinting slightly as his eyesight wasn’t the best. “Whoever or whatever you are, I just wanted to sniff the flowers. There was no need to hit me.” He looked down forlornly.

What fun prank it would be in this form to hide in marshes, bushes, and flowers to scare other kin as they passed by. This form was useful besides for swimming purposes after all. Who knew. Mentally tucking away that revelation for another time, she flapped one tentacle to the right as the next one followed and the ones after that until a rhythm developed in different undulating limbs. She tried to smile but furbodies' beaks were limited. This entire form was limited. Still getting used to it, she shifted to her mare form with a toothy grin present.

"I was having a nightmare it seems. If you don't mind some squished flowers, they're still lovely to sniff at."

Love is Blind stared at the doe that had suddenly taken the place of the tentacled....thing. He had never seen one before so he didn’t know what it was called. He flared his nostrils to sniff at the flowers a bit more then responded. “It’s ok, I didn’t mean to wake you. Thank you for letting me sniff the flowers.” He sighed as he looked around the field. His encounter had reminded him he was on a search for a blessing and had been taking his task too slowly. “You wouldn’t happen to know where I could find a blessing for my soon to come children, would you?”

"How perfect you came across my slumbering form! This really is serendipity. I will offer you a blessing for your coming brood for a small price." Albatross forgot to smile in this form as octo furbodies really didn't do the gleeful elation thing with their beaks. She fluttered her eyelashes for effect. Honey had nothing on the words dripping from her mouth.

Love is Blind looked at her while thinking about how suspicious she was behaving. “I do need a blessing... Hmm, I guess? I mean, I don’t really have much with me right now. What price would you have me pay?” He looked around at all the flowers in the area and then at the trees to see if there was anything around he could give her. However as he looked he realized, anything he saw there, she could probably get on her own. Especially as she had all those tentacles to grip onto things with. So with a sigh for his own silly thoughts, he turned to look at her again.

Albatross didn't blame the other kin's hesitancy. It was palpable in the air and perhaps it was wise to be more prudent. Tricks ran aplenty among these swampy bits. But she was a Mare and mean spiritedness was never her cloak to wear.

"I bless your brood to be healthy and hale. They will be mighty in their pursuits while taking time to stop and smell the roses along the way. They will know joy." She rushed the last bit before the kin could turn away.  "But wait, there's more." Blessing complete, she turned to where she was napping, and with a rustling of her own. Time passed a bit more than she wanted, but she had to be thorough. Happy with what she sought, she came out and pushed forward a furbody of pale pink and questionable intent.

"This is yours now, and is your part of the bargain to take home."

And with that she shifted back to her slimy form and waddled off for more mischief and delights amid the dying sun of the day. Her good deed of the day done, it was time for quality self-care. The future is bright and so was her errant furbody smile.
