Yellow, orange, pink, red, purple. Petals the color of the rainbow filled her vision. A bit of elusive night blooming jasmine and the pungent appeal of the pink jasmine teased her senses. Lost in the thrall of the flowers, she does not notice she's not alone. The shadow moves closer until the obliviousness brought on by fragrant flowers cannot overshadow what she refuses to acknowledge. The scooting sound was the final slash to her charade.

And just as quickly as it entered her personal space, the thing was gone. A chill went down her spine. Red, red eyes. Restless, sleep was a long time coming that night, the damning flowers long forgotten.

Relic wakes in a dreamscape of pastels. Like the shades of petals from earlier in the waking hours, she's moving through a vibrant blooming field. A teasing scent, she's lured further into the path. The ground is soft and squishy and the petals unfurl as she passes them. Joyous and jubilant, she's got a spring to her step. Nothing can go wrong. The sun is warm on her skin, it smells of flowers and everywhere she looks, petals tantalize her view.

It starts slowly, the creeping sensation that something is amiss. Not only is she in a realm of flowers, but as her hooves sink into the soft yellow loam, she realizes she's on top of a flower. While that would be a dream, twin red suns entered the horizon. But the two red glows harken back to her previous day and with sinking dread, she realizes what it is. The thing from before- the peeper that spied on her. As she was unwilling to deal with the interloper during her waking hours, now it haunts her in this very dream. No, this was a nightmare. And it followed her here.

She ran. She ran in any direction, but two twin red glowing suns were never far from her horizon and what followed them was way worse- a set of teeth chomping at the bit to devour her and mess up the flower she was on. Petals rained down, shredded and tossed away carelessly as one would eat grass. Her world was ending and the creature with red beady eyes was chomping at the bit to eat her. She felt like the flowers he devoured and soon she'd find herself in the belly of a ravenous beast. She ran for her life as the jaws descended upon her, blackening her view.

Relic woke in a sweaty mess, the scented flowers near her warning with vitality under the morning dew. She came to huffing, her chest heaving, and her heart hammering to be free from the confining ribcage. Time slipped through and eventually her mind calmed. And like before and during the dream, she was not alone.

Snuggled up was a small form, its head burrowed into her side. Despite her energetic waking, it continued snoring loud enough to wake the dead. She nosed it, unsure what it was. It could snap at her. She was suddenly weary of large teeth. It yawned and opened its eyes before going back to sleep. Unsure of everything up until that point, she continued to stare.
