[PRP] Some Kind of Mushroom [With or Without You/Into Dust]

[imgright]https://matope.pixel-blueberry.com/imag ... uncert.png[/imgright]Into Dust hadn't meandered very far in this cold weather, but the hubbub attracted her, and she found herself leisurely wandering into the Winter Market with all its little offerings. Somewhere along the way, chewing on a drumstick, she had wandered into a booth, wherein - if she remembered rightly - she was requested to get mushrooms.

Mushrooms! Oh, she knew where the best mushrooms, or at least some of the very good mushrooms were. She said as such, the reaction seemed positive. But it was up to her to get them, and she was then dispatched.

That was all right - Into Dust generally meandered wherever the Swamp brought her, and she was very easygoing. Being told to get mushrooms wasn't a problem, she was happy to have a nibble on the way. She would keep the very best for herself though, a girl had her vices.

And so there she was, meandering out of the winter market, ambling towards her mushroom hunting grounds, her fluffy pile of hair gently bouncing in the cold winter breeze. Into Dust was going to get some mushrooms.

With or Without You had wandered into the same booth, heard the list of quests, and panicked-opted for mushroom-gathering because it had been the first safe option after all of the very scary sounding fights.

"But I'm sure everybody did the same thing and now there won't be any mushrooms left," he sighed, "and they'll be very angry if I go back without mushrooms. What do you think I should do, Thorn?

"Thorn?"

He had been too preoccupied to notice the little weight on his back had hopped off...but, yes, his jackalope was gone.

"THORN??!?!?"

Though her field of vision was a little limited upwards, Into Dust was quite alert to things around ankle-level through her usually mildly foggy vision (this had proved handy during high tide, that was kinda important), and saw some movement out of the corner of her eye. Ah, it was going in the same direction she was.

With some brief consideration, she decided to forge ahead anyway. It was probably too small to be dangerous. Probably.

"THORN!!!" he screamed, wheeling right and left, first to try to look at his now-empty back, then just everywhere.

"WHERE ARE YOU?!" he screamed, "IT'S NOT SAFE FOR A LITTLE RABBIT AT A MARKET LIKE THIS - RISE & SHINE ARE OUT THERE!!!"

Finally, in the middle of wheeling left and right, he caught sight of tiny pawprints in a little patch of snow - there they were, running through the mud as well!

"I'm coming, Thorn!!!" he shouted, and galloped - okay, and shuffled as quickly as he could, because he had to keep his head to the ground to see the tiny pawprints in the mud. If only there was more snow.

Whatever it was, it was scampering at a good pace, and she briefly blew up her bangs to have a better look.

From the bobbing tail and some flappy ears, she deduced that it was probably a bunny. How adorable! Well, up to the point that she realised it really was going her exact route, right towards the regular sprawl of mushrooms she frequented.

Into Dust wasn't much for strong emotions, but a mild dismay came over her, because bunnies could eat a lot, and she needed mushrooms for the kiokote, for herself, and for future generations of very good mushrooms to continue existing.

"Hang on," she said with an air of plaintiveness, and hurried it up through little piles of fluffy snow and icy marshlands, training her eye upon the ground to follow its tracks.

With or Without You was doing an adequate job shuffling quickly along to Thorn's little pawprints - until he noticed something new.

Following the tiny pawprints.

"No!" he gasped, terror striking to his very core, "Rise & Shine!"

Shuffle! SHUFFLE!! It was time to shuffle faster than he'd ever shuffled in his entire life!!!

By the time she caught up, they had basically arrived near the mushroom motherlode. She hadn't noticed till now how much she was panting, and her limbs were certainly a little angry from all the exertion they weren't used to.

"Bunny," she said with a snap, the most aggressive she'd sounded in her life.

"DON'T EAT MY RABBIIIITTTTT!!!" he wailed, bursting in onto the scene, having conveniently shuffled to the end of the tracks right as she'd snapped.

[Maxx]

At the outcry, she tilted her head back and saw the baleful buck.

Huh, he was kinda cute.

"This is your bunny?" She asked, turning a little to regard both bunny and buck, "make it not eat these mushrooms. At least, not yet. I gotta get some for this guy back at the Winter Market, maybe a little for me, maybe a little for you, then it can have some, and let the rest spread its spores. Good mushrooms are hard to find."

It took some time for her words to sink into his terror-addled brain, but they finally did sometime within his cowering totter over to the two.

Oh.

Ohhhh.

"Wow," he looked around, "so the mushrooms aren't all gone, after all."

He quickly grabbed the - rather indignant, one might imagine, after all the work it'd done to track down these mushrooms - jackalope by the scruff of its neck, and dropped it back onto his back.

"Yes, ma'am!" he said, keenly, "I need to get some mushrooms for the quest kin too!"

5. Nothing out of the ordinary with this find, you just happened to sniff them out. (+1 mushroom)

She watched him seize the bunny and laughed a little because it looked mad and the buck seemed pretty slow on the uptake.
It was funny. To her.

She nosed down and neatly plucked one out.

1. This mushroom is a little slimy and you're not entirely sure if that's a good thing or not. The last thing you want to do is give Bash food poisoning so you test it yourself. That's the only thing you remember and you wake up sometime later in a haze. (-3 mushrooms)

Maybe it was because With or Without You was a mushroom novice, but one tiny nibble of the odd mushroom he had found, and he was down for the count.
