[B] A Fine Season for Storms [ Bogus x Bitter Heartbeat]

Post by fluo »

Bogus looked up into the clear blue sky. Were it night, she would have wished on a star or even all of them. She had a mission and she needed help, but was loathe to ask for it. She'd rather do everything else but ask for help. She would sooner take on some gristly toothy beast than admit she needed assistance. She was willing to battle with other kin even with her protruding belly.

But here she was. On a perfectly wonderful day looking for something that may not even exist.

"What makes a legendary even special?" She kicked a nearby tree as if it had all the answers in the swamp.

Bitter Heartbeat had been minding in own business in the tree, a tiny minibear lounging on a large branch, when a thump cracked into his thoughts. Small, furry ears twitched as the kin's lament materialized into a sentence. Sightseeing would have to wait then. The stag appeared down below on the ground while the minibear turned ghostly.

"Well that depends on who you ask, I imagine, friend. Some of us are valued for the forms we can take on, others for the knowledge we share. I believe, however, that the vast majority think us special because of the blessings we provide," he smiled. And he knew that this one wanted, needed a blessings but he could tell, too, that she would not accept one easily. "Would you like a demonstration of one such blessing?"

Behold, two forms in front of her, one corporal and the other not so much. But both gave  the unnerving feeling that the were seeing deep into her soul. It was unsettling to say the least even if one form was deceptively really cute in minibear form. She stared and gave a great impression of catching flies. She didn't know where to look. With an audible click of her teeth, she snapped to the present.

And here this stranger, this stag was willing to give what she wanted. She couldn't believe it. It was almost too good to be true. She better say yes before the stranger changed his mind. She would sit on the minibear until she got her blessing if she had to. She was that desperate.

"The name's Bogus. I'd love to know your name and have a blessing. Please" She almost forgot the last bit. Oops.

"I am Bitter Heartbeat," he said as he bowed. "I think first and foremost we must ensure that your children will be able to ask for help when it is necessary for we cannot do everything alone. Your children shall be curious and always up for an adventure, while also being kind to those around them." He paused for a moment, then continued, "Of course they shall be born healthy and know the utmost happiness, too."

He smiled; that was a nice well-rounded blessing, if he did say so himself. (And he did, naturally.)

"Is there anything else you need help with?"
