Bitter Heartbeat shrugged the snow from his furry pelt, as he stretched his little bear body from his long nap. His instinct to hibernate was starting to dim ever so slowly but it still resulted in nearly day long naps as he ambled through the whitened swamp. And he'd not meant to nap today. He'd meant to find the buck or doe who was in need of a blessing; they'd been calling since nightfall and instead of loping along to find them, his bear form had coddled him into a nap that stretched from dawn to noon. He supposed there was nothing to be done for it; instinct existed for many reasons and bears often hibernated. And chagrined as he was at the lapse in judgement, he was a mini bear, too. It was only natural he'd succumb to their needs occasionally.

With a yawn to shake the sleep from his body, he turned north and head towards the kin in need. They'd be pleased to see him, he told himself, and he didn't have to tell them why he was late. In fact, they need not know that he was late at all.

OH! A cardinal! It was on the floor! Except as she got closer, to her dismay, it rounded out and was not a cute bird. No, it was an even more adorable, extra fuzzy minibear. OH! She tried to rush it but the growing belly had other ideas. She stopped just short of nuzzling the minibear, totally oblivious to the glow, and was breathing hard. Ugh.

The minibear remained but behind it a ghostly stag appeared, face scrunched in concern, "I'm not going anywhere, child. Take a deep breathe, hold it in, breathe out," he instructed to the heavily pregnant doe. The minibear nuzzled itself against the doe's forelegs for comfort as the stag took careful steps to help her breath more easily. He'd never been pregnant himself but he understood the intricacies of it and it took a hard toll on one's body.

"Just breathe, nice and easy, and then we'll talk and you can cuddle," he told the doe, voice cutting off before he could say the word me. That sounded a bit too strange even for his own ears.

It spoke and then she saw the larger picture at hand. A legendary. Just what she sought out in this damn freezing blizzard. While the weather was mild, her growing belly made everything so much more tedious and laborious. It seemed like a blizzard to her uncomfortable state. But she did hear the word cuddle and was so overjoyed at the Legendary would oblige. She nuzzled the small being that huddled against her front leg. She cuddled it and hoped her clutch would be affectionate. Her last one were born adventurers and left as soon as they were self sufficient. She missed them some days, but secretly she yearned for some cuddles here and there.

Sighing contentedly, she murmured into the minibear's shoulders, "I would like a blessing please."

The minibear allowed the cuddles and nuzzled its nose into the doe's weary form.

The ghostly stag stood watch over them and barely caught the muffled tones of her voice. It would not have mattered; he already knew the reason that they had met this day. Still, it was nice to have his knowledge confirmed.

"What is it you wish for your children, my dear?" he asked gently so as not to intrude.

She blurted it out before she got too scared to ask. "I would like a blessing for my growing clutch please!"

Bitter Heartbeat chuckled, soft and amused, "you did mention that. What I mean, is what is it you wish for your children to be like?"
