Thriving on Decay-
It wasn't intentional, but survival instincts have a way of kicking in and overriding all the preferences that comfort and abundance can give. They tasted like dirt, others made him question his senses, and some nearly killed him, but he was still alive. Trapped in the earth after escaping from the previous place, he couldn't get out. Their root structures were invasive and provided sustenance though. And when an avalanche broke the mountain enough for him to escape a second time, he emerged better, and newer. He had adapted and was going to be just fine.
