[AU Solo] My Matope Academia

Post by Lutz »

Echoed Chorus panted as he ran, cursing himself silently as he recalled every time he'd turn down a support item from his agency. All the items he needed he had! But man, each time a villain was causing problems anywhere more than a mile away he really wished he'd agreed to trying out some flight boots or a jet pack or something to make him more mobile! Some of the best heroes had support items to help them with their weak points. Echo just wanted something to help him get to the troubled spots faster.

But he was almost there, he could hear the screams of civilians and the maniacal laughter of the villain. He pulled his guitar from its place on his back and began hooking up the jacks to the ports on his costume, the speakers whining to life as he did so. So close, he was almost there-

Above him a few flighted heroes passed him. Good. As much as Echo loved to save the day, his power really was better when others were there to support him. He adjusted the strings on his guitar as he ran, finally catching sight of the battle area. He tapped the communication device in his ear that was standard for most heroes to wear, the calls of other heroes crackling to life in his ear.

"All right all right all riiiiiiight!" he called, his catchphrase breaking through the cacophony in his ear. "Troubadour's here, nothing to fear! Get those earplugs in, guys, because I'm going to rock this villain's world!"

As he broke into the clearing of level buildings he spotted the bad guy - a monster of a man, fifteen feet tall and muscles to spare. His powers seemed to make him grow the more physical damage he took, increasing his strength and resilience. Perfect.

Climbing atop a ruined building, Echo strummed his guitar to set the volume on the speakers in his costume while giving the other heroes time to get themselves ready. Echo's power was pretty impressive, but it had its drawbacks. Namely, if anyone including his allies heard it, they'd fall victim to it as well. He played a few chords as the heroes moved away from the villain, knowing full well what Echo could do.

"Let's get ready to rock!" he called before starting to play, his voice carrying through the speakers as well. It was a classic rock song that he loved and one he'd gotten the artist's permission to use in battle so there'd be no copyright infringement when it played on the news.

As he played and sang, the villain's movements turned from violent flailing to erratic dancing. He made a noise of distress when it became clear that he was no longer in control of his body, instead victim to the music that was being played. The heroes that had put on earphones or used earplugs were unaffected, but Echo knew that any civilians in the area would be dancing like their lives depended on it as well. The heroes on the fringes could help them get out of the range of the music.

The other heroes began using their own powers to bind up the villain, and after a few minutes the monster lay immobile on the ground. Echo played one final chord to end the song, his voice trailing off amid the cheers from the civilians.

"Woooo Troubadour! You rock, man!"

"Thank you, Troubadour! You saved us!"

"Way to go, Troubadour!"

Echo waved to the civilians before taking a bow as if he'd just played a sold out show. Honestly, it felt about the same to him. The rush of adrenaline and the love from the 'fans' felt the same, whether on stage or working as a hero. It was something he'd never tire of.
