[PRP] Taking the First Step

Her time with the Children of the Night tribe had been enlightening in ways that Hang the Moon had never anticipated. She learned so much about the different plants that blossomed during the night, that became more potent under the light of the moon rather than that of the sun, and how to utilize them in her path to becoming a competent healer. She'd made friends with the nocturnal kin, laughed and learned with them, but eventually knew that she had to continue moving on. If this one tribe held so much knowledge, she could gain more by exploring other places.
Curiosity got the better of her as she returned to her father's tribe for a short rest and to impart her knowledge to her family, practicing her craft and planting the herbs that she'd brought with her to cultivate them in her own home. She'd always wanted to visit her ancestral home, the Plains. Her egg had been found by Shadowed Moon on the border of the Swamp and the Plains, but she'd never had the courage to explore the vast expanse that laid beyond where she'd grown up. Now, though...the promise of learning new things was too strong a call to ignore.
Obelisk travel sounded terrifying, but it was the best way to get deep within the Plains. She knew she couldn't stay there long due to the Ache, so traveling through the strange pillar would be her best bet. She'd been warned by others that used it to travel that it could be a strange place, but she'd doubled down on her desire to learn and had made the trek. She'd kept her gaze forward while her two lionesses strode beside her, teeth bared at anything strange that threatened her.
The trio emerged from the Obelisk and Hang the Moon was instantly floored by how open it was. There were a few trees here and there, but she'd never seen so much sky at once before.
"Wow," she murmured, gazing up at the stars that had just begun to emerge. The horizon held the faint hints of the sun that had set not long ago, giving way to the familiar cool light of the moon. Night and Day and Gone the Sun also gazed up at the sky, their ears twitching as sounds unheard before reached them.
"It's so...big," Hang the Moon said, tearing her eyes from they sky to look at the earth beneath her hooves. Grass. Dry. Not like the almost always damp ground of the Swamp. She began to walk, unsure where she was going other than forward. Night and Day remained close beside her while Gone the Sun took up the rear, making sure nothing snuck up on the group. The kiokote walked on for a while in silence, simply enjoying the light breeze in her mane and the new smells reaching her nose.
