“Well, you see, I made a wish on a star!” Glowbright explained, her legs tucked neatly beneath her. A fire crackled merrily nearby and at least twenty pairs of eyes were upon her, listening with rapt attention. Who didn’t love a good love story?Glowbright didn’t mind the attention at all.
“I made a wish on a star that I would meet someone amazing and that very night I met him. I thought I was still looking up at the sky! He was so dreamy. In fact, he was even more beautiful than all the stars in the sky. He had this sparkle to him that was so amazing!”
She sighed wistfully and everyone around her echoed the sound.
“I was lost in space.”
She couldn’t have found a better audience. The Royal Rainbow Troupe had instantly welcomed her into their ranks and when Watch Me had casually announced her pregnancy everyone had begged to know all the juicy gossip.
Speaking of Watch Me, the legendary was sitting close, ears perked and clearly delighted.“How marvellous!” He cried. “What happened next?”
“Well, I’ll spare you all the details, but we spent the rest of the night together. And then - and then he was gone. Just like the shooting star! A brief flash of beauty in the night and then darkness.” She allowed her shoulders to slump as if depressed. In truth, she didn’t at all mind that her fling had been both fun and brief.
There was a collective ‘awww’ from the kin around her.
None of them were that sad either.
But they put on a good show.
“And now, a part of him remains with me!”
Glowbright was quite excited to be a mother. It was going to be a fun new adventure!
“Wonderful!” Watch Me boomed. He was really quite loud. “I think now is the perfect time to give you a blessing! A gift from me to your future children.”
He cleared his throat.
Glowbright’s ears perked and she held her breath.
“May your children be as bright and as beautiful as you, swift as shooting stars and covered in starlight. Born with the unending majesty of the night sky!” He declared.
There was a chorus of ‘ooos’ and ‘aaahs’ from around them.
Glowbright beamed.
How perfect.
She really did hope they took after their father, so that she could gaze at them and be amazed once more.
“Thank you, Watch Me. That was wonderful.”
“But of course.” Watch Me preened. “You’re more than welcome to stay with us for as long as you like. I look forward to meeting your lovely children.”
“Oh, maybe I will!” She wasn’t one to stay in one spot for too long but this seemed as good a place as any to hang around for a bit. It came with lots of potential babysitters.
“Think about it,” Watch Me encouraged, and then his attention shifted. “Well then, who wants to tell the next story? Come, come, let’s keep the entertainment going!”
