Midnight Mirth felt his heart fluttering in his chest, and he couldn't tell if it was fear or excitement or both. Memories of dancing the night away with a mysterious doe he met around a bonfire flashed in his mind. The dancing and the moon overhead and the laughing were nothing new, but she had not been like his other dance partners. They'd still had fun, a lot of fun, and the morning after he thought nothing other than it had been a good time. That somehow felt like just yesterday and many seasons ago at the same time. Everything was so jumbled for him as he trotted through the deeper parts of the Swamp. He'd just seen her, and the consequences to their actions were very apparent, and he wasn't sure how to feel.
But, Midnight Mirth did know what he could do, and moving was better than anything right now. Whispers and stories told around parties and markets probably wouldn't have been enough for him to fully believe, but seeing the glowing eyes of one of the Motherfather's blessed kin had him roaming the Swamp beyond his usual territory. He wasn't sure he could do this if they were interrupted. It was too important to mess up, that much he knew.
A clearing cast bright moonlight above, and that felt like a sign. Midnight Mirth paused and looked around. "
Hello?" he called.

From the grass around Midnight Mirth came a rustling sound, a sort of slithering that could have been mistaken for a snake on first glance. A moment later the rustling stopped; a flash of something sharp caught slivers of moonlight and a small, compact form appeared in the dark.
The eaglehound was, for the most part, relatively unobtrusive - except for the long, pointed tail that took up enough space to be concerning. A moment later, though, it was gone, and a kimeti buck had taken its place, still with the same spiked tail and unadorned features. There were dark circles beneath his eyes, and he looked tired, even as he offered the other buck an encouraging smile.
"Good evening," said Fierce. "I heard your call. Are you well?"

Midnight Mirth felt his fur stand up all the way from his flanks to his neck when the rustling began around him. He was ready to spin around and defend himself, but the flash in the moonlight distracted him enough to give him pause. After that, the appearance of the strange eagle hound and then it's transformation into a Stag felt like a whirlwind. He'd never been this close to one blessed by the Motherfather before, and he knew now that all of the stories hadn't prepared him. When he met eyes with the tired-looking Stag, he let out the breath he was holding in.

H-hello," Midnight Mirth started. "
I'm, uh, a bit overwhelmed, if I'm honest. But I'm very glad that you're here." He flicked his tail with uncertainty, not really sure how this worked. "
How are you?" He asked, feeling awkward not to return the question to someone doing him a great service.
