Naming Dream
Two beings held a conversation, out of view, the air around them hazy and indistinct.

"I suppose you'll be leaving, then?" Hesitant.

"Yes. I'll travel beyond the mire, past the stars, where there moon plays with diaphenous beings of light."

"Oh. That sounds very far." Heartbroken.

"It is."

"Will I see you again?" Hopeful.

"Perhaps."

"Well, then...Until Next Time."

The Storyteller (The Who and the Why)

Until Next Time is a whimsical sort of doe, who holds the concept of the future in the highest regard. She often daydreams about the things that will be, and is fascinated by fortune tellers and those who claim to be able to predict events that have yet to occur. While she is often optimistic about the future, she generally lacks any amount of follow-through to see her visions come true, and finds herself disappointed when situations fall apart due to a lack of planning.

A swamp kin from birth, Until Next Time nevertheless loves to travel, and until having children lived a largely nomadic life of bumbling through the swamp and foraging where she needed to survive. The first winter caring for foals was difficult, as Until Next Time failed to properly plan out winter stores, and in that year she began to realize that if you want a certain future, you have to see it through in the present.

Traveling to the mountains opened a whole new world to Until, one of severe beauty (and severe, uncomfortable emotions). Learning about the obelisks and their ability to give kin passage to new strange places meant that she could wander far beyond the bounds of the swamp, even if just for a brief time. It was also the first time she was truly separated from the things she knew and the kin she cared for, which made reuniting all the sweeter.

In dreams, Until Next Time imagined she was a wolf, running through the swamp in a pack and hunting. She failed to complete her run, succcumbing to fire in the dream and unable to save the dream cubs. In the aftermath, she met her wolf companion and named her Try Again, and every so often when she dreams she runs with paws instead of hooves.

In the Zikwa caves, Until Next Time found herself connected to the obelisks in an even greater way, gaining a holistic understanding of the swamp at large and her place as one piece in a large interconnected story. She put a name to homesickness and learned that there were things she cared about enough to return to, that there are things that must be said in the present because the future is not guaranteed. She returned to the swamp with a new appreciation for the things that grounded her, adrift as she was--her tiny copse of trees, her family, her familiars.

Her one distaste at present is that of the kincallers, specifically the one that follows her and uses the voice of her son. This "Not My Son" is the foul omen on Until's horizon, but in spite of her time in dreams as a predator she does not have any particular bloodlust or desire to be cruel. Even if she often bemoans the creature, she does not actually wish it harm.

As a legendary, Until Next Time would bless foals to be whimsical, curious, to find joy in the mundane and keep eyes up to the sublime. She would find herself drawn to the wanderers, the dreamers, and the free spirits, ambling in and out of stories as a benevolent spirit. However, in spite of an almost religious reverence to the future, Until does not have a particularly close relationship to the Motherfather as a concept and would keep an open mind to all perspectives about the swamp and its magic.
