Smoldering Ember spent his early life being raised in a loving family environment with his mother and many siblings. Though his father was present only in the periphery of his youthful experience, the presence of his numerous siblings, half-siblings, and various other relatives would never cause him to feel alone. He very much cherished being around other kin and being involved in their activities.
Even as early as this, he had already felt the urge to encourage and help others. Only later in life did that urge become his driving force. Upon reaching adolescence, Ember sought to take advantage of his larger than usual build and stronger than usual constitution to assist any kin he would come across as he journeyed through the swamp. It was awkward at first; shouting out from the top of a hill for strange kin to hear him announce that he would be willing to help anyone who would require assistance in any matter at all. But as he moved away from his mother's hearth and found his own community, it became easier and felt more natural to offer a helping hoof to those kin who would eventually become his friends and neighbors.
To him, the feeling of accomplishment in being able to help someone achieve something they otherwise could not on their own was its own reward. It was a bit later in life that he realized that accepting help from others when he was having a difficult time was also necessary for him to grow. To help and to be helped was not about him, it was about the interconnectedness of all living beings and how together, they are able to achieve everything from personal objectives to great and impossible feats.
For Smoldering Ember, to become Legendary would be the next great step in being able to bring kin together and start them on the path towards acting, towards helping, and towards becoming more than they alone can ever be.
